Can't wait until subsequent Home Assistant Voice assistants with real speakers come along. I can't imagine that the new Alexa devices will be less annoying with their "By the way.." unwanted suggestions. Stop it, STFU!

There is an “action button”. You just tap on the top. I’m enjoying mine. Sounds good for its size too.
Got one today. It does not move when I push on any of the 3 buttons, which are very easy to press. I’m really enjoying Alexa Plus! I only had the Spot I use on my nightstand, so this is only my 2nd Echo device. So far I love it! 🎉

Wow how didn't they see the placement of the buttons a problem, I don't want to put it on a rubber mat or hold it if I need to use them… did they think by removing the action button no one would touch it
So I’m guessing this replaces both the echo dot 5th gen and echo 4th gen since it cost the same price and it hasn’t been renewed in 5 years
Just returned mine. It isn't compatible as a home theater speaker,despite having upgraded speaker
When you're offline you need to use the proper request types (like the old days). "Set a timer for 15 minutes." Also you should be able to turn some (WeMo, zigbee, Hue) devices on and off while offline. My 4th gen Echo can do all of that while offline, if you know how to ask it.
6:18 the same happened to google assistant, at first you could use it without internet, you can said "enable airplane mode" and "disable airplane mode" without problem (along with several basic commands that do not require internet), today if you said "disable airplane mode" instead of disabling it, they said "there is no internet connection". Come on, if you could disable the internet with voice command, at least let me enable it again with voice command too, or just get rid of that function (same with commands like "what is the time" or "open the calculator"). And yes, i have the offline voice recognition enabled
Ok, that don't work, but at least i still can said "play [music/playlist] on VLC/another music player" and it open the app and play the music. The same thing with Gemini is imposible, it always try or search the web, or open spotify or youtube instead of doing what i tell it to do.
It seems that voice assistants are getting worse every year.
I replaced all my Echo’s with HomePod Mini’s ages ago.
Hey Reed, why don’t you have any videos reviewing the different projectors yet????????? I want to replace my regular tv with a projector setup but I’m nervous that there is a lot i don’t know. I just don’t want to spend $2,000+ and be like “i wish i had known this before”

Well……..I was actually looking forward to a new Echo speaker, although was really hoping for a 5th gen Echo.
EVEN with the 20% "trade-in" value & £15 voucher (per speaker) after watching this it's most definitely NOT even an upgrade over the existing Echo Dot!!
I've currently got 3 X 4th gen Echo (Product Red), an Echo Pop & kids Echo so it's safe to say I like the Alexa ecosystem (for the most part)
I expect this'll be on sale for 2 price or less by either Black Friday or latest for Christmas 2025.
Amazon DEFINITELY missed a trick not announcing a sucussor to the 4th gen Echo IMHO…..

Nice one buddy, was going to get one of these, but as I've still got the main 4th gen echo, not the dot, might actually be a downgrade 😁 plus we haven't even got Alexa plus yet in the UK, I'm using Gemini a lot on my Samsung watch, might even replace Alexa with Gemini 😁
I think they missed the chance to include a clock. My current Dot has a clock in the mesh making it great as a bedside speaker. They could have used the led ring on the Circle to show the time. A wide segment and a narrow Segment for Hours and minutes.
If you’re resorting to touching Alexa, you’re doing it wrong.
Removing all amazon products from your home is the only right move.
I still think the Og echo dot is superior to anything that came out. We still have the first gen and they night and day. The only advantage on the new ones is the speaker. But i think the newer ones are kinds useless
I would not spend "YOUR" money on an Amazon product that uses the cloud. My home may not be as smart as yours, but when the internet is out, mine still functions as before.

I have no intentions of getting any more echo devices. I’m currently working on making everything happen with sensors and remote switches just so I don’t have to talk to the echo as much, other than to set timers, alarms and reminders.
Was thinking of getting one but now i dont think so.

When I switch to Alexa + it said it was a free trial but doesn’t have an end date for the trial. If I start getting charged I’m cancelling.

As someone who exclusively bought Amazon echo devices since 2019, I am unfortunately undoing everything I did since then. I do not like the direction or support the Amazon Alexa devices have been going in since 2022.
