"This is the most ok monitor I've ever seen"
Wise words…
I’ve got an AOC 27” 1440p 144hz monitor I got off Amazon for like $200 after tax and honestly for under $200 it’s been a steal for my usage(as a steam deck monitor mainly and sometimes when I dust off my series s, but soon enough the series s is going away in favor of the steam machine)
I was recently in the market for a new second monitor and found that there is some really good monitors in this price range, I nabbed myself a 1080p 180hz monitor for just a little more than the LG in this video, it was also IPS panel but shares a lot of the same positive traits as the LG, truly a great time to be a budget gamer
At least something is getting cheaper
I got a 27 inch 165Hz/180Hz, 1440p Monitor, 1ms Response Time, FreeSync & G-Sync, HDR10, 122% sRGB Coverage, DP/HDMI for $100 couldn't be happier.
This new guy looks plouffe.
Yea cheap screens be really fine. A monitor my gf had suddenly died, so I quickly gone to the store and grabbed some 100€ lenovo screen, and when I sat it up I was surprised how good it looked. It has 100hz which is already more her previous one had and compared to it it's colors look sooo much better. It's insane what money can buy you these days
Something is weird with the math being shown at 0:23. If the "Comp Value" is $200 and the "Save" is $113, then the price of the monitor should be $87, not $70?
Finally an old school LTT video. Not some ridiculous setups – just a nice deep dive into PC gear.
I went with msi VA display and for 250$ you can get something that has 1440p 180hz and 5000:1 contrast Ratio which is fantastic for its price
I guess in NA $70 for 120hz is a good deal? In Asia we could get an IPS 180hz for well under 65 USD (Xiaomi g24i, etc), is that not the case there?
In our region I hope oled is available in the sub 1000$ category lmao.
Zero kids and three money, hahaha its been I while since I heard that simpsons reference
Save the money on display so you can ram…or gpu (price about to explode again) or next X thing that AI pumps up
Please show us a timelapse of the conversion from badminton centre to LAN party!!
Not me watching this while considering buying a Dell U4025QW to match my U4021QW
I like when you shown affordable and great value products. Your usual videos makes it look like you absolutely need the latest and greatest, but sometimes good enough is simply enough
Monitor Man is not wrong. I got my first IPS (a Dell 24" 1920×1200) in 2009, and while OLED looks nicer, it is not worth the huge price for a tech that is still guaranteed to "fade out" in time, as the OLEDs wear out. I tried VA in 2022, and did not like it at all. I would say 27" is a sweet spot, 29-30" even sweeter, but at 32" you need to start going curved, because the edges on a flat screen are simply too different in distance from the centre for comfortable viewing. The eyes have to "accommodate distance", and mine never have. 120Hz is entirely reasonable, and 1440p is a "nice" level, not too demanding on graphics, although I went to 4k in 2018 and have never gone back.
4k is better for FullHD streaming (since 4 pixels cover 1 FullHD exactly, no blurry edges). But you then need a 16Gb VRAM graphics card to handle textures at 4k res.
owns a display? nay, owns TWO displays. he's getting too powerful…
yea i got my main monitor at 80 euros, 27' 100 hz my best purchase yet, and its actually an LG too
240hz has significantly better motion clarity compared to 120hz.
i highly recommend MSI G244F E2 as a budget ips moniter im using it currently its 180hz freesync can't complain it looks to be around 100 usd in the us, its worth the price.
Bro I was looking for a new monitor for my sibling the other day and then this video comes out, what fortunate timing
I must know more about the fractal ridge build that’s featured in this.
Hm 🤔 my 8-year old LG ultrawides are still going strong. Maybe I'll wait a few more years to hop on OLED when they drop to the $300 range
i hate that see this and when i get to the point where they show what monitor they got, i only see the same one i have 2 of :C… but that being said, it is a great monitor for only 70, though i got mine on sale for 60, but again still a great monitor
Hi
Editors, please update Plouffe's intro card to "Owns 2 Displays".
This was a good video becuase you did the review on the cheap monitor and then transitioned to a broader conversation about monitors. Could have kept going to be honest but understand why you keep the video shorter. really good 🙂
As someone who has been gaming on 2x60hz monitors for over 10 years now would this make a huge difference for me? I've seen a lot of videos on how much better 120hz is for gaming and was wondering if it really is that much of a change. Might be time for me to try and save money for some new monitors if I can.
There's a 200 hz 1080p ips with 99% srgb and 300 nits brightness for 87 aud or the equivalent of 56 USD after tax. A hell of a deal imo, obviously has flaws but for the price it's amazing.
I once commented on a video
im watching this video on a samsung FHD tv from 2012, it works aswell.. you dont "need" much in this world
i have a RTX 4060 and torn between the idea of sticking my old 1080(60hz) or going to 1440p. Should i just get a better 1080p monitor with HDR and higher refresh rate or is there any merit to going 1440p?
I bought a 144hz ips LG like 4 years ago for $140 and I have absolutely zero desire or need to upgrade it. In fact, my mouse from back then is good, my 5800x and 9600xt is good enough for everything I do still, my old headphones are good, my blue yeti from 2013 or some shit is still good, it's becoming less and less nedded to upgrade often
Sorry I'm stupid but where's the link for this?
Here's the trick:
You buy two of these if you want a double monitor setup on a budget, then when you want to upgrade, you buy a better monitor and flank it with the two you started with.
In my country, I can get a 24" 2K 180Hz IPS at $120 (American). Decent color accuracy too!
been looking for a decently solid display for lan situations and this is right up my alley
