High amount of static friction absolutely does not mean more micro control, you are referring to dynamic friction. High static friction causes a lot of sticking at low force/ micro adjustment.

I got the fantech strike pad off this channel's recommendation, and i love it! Its smooth and somewhat easy to maintain, just wipe the dust off the top and its good to go! No more washing of cloth pads every few weeks!
