Apple fell behind Vivo and oppo in photography. Once they figure out video completely the iphone will be completely outperformed. Samsung and google don't even have the video argument.

To me iOS26.2 doesn’t not lag at all. It is faster than before. Both my iPhone 17 pro and iPad Air 4 are incredibly fast and they do not lag at all
Side loading on iOS is decent vis live container + sidestore and a second or third live container.
To be honest it might be a better experience than what we will have on android when they finally block sideloading.
I personally can’t stand a lot of what I have to deal with on iOS, but a lot of the android flagships are turning into nurfed versions of iOS devices to begin with.
I’m going to hold out with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and wait until it becomes long in the tooth and we see how android develops over the next 2-3 years.
If the jailbreak scene doesn’t improve and the android root/sideloading scene doesn’t deteriorate I’m moving back to android.

iPhone 17 is my first iPhone and the keyboard is ass. Also iOS needs a universal back gesture instead of having to click X on corners to exit things or having to swipe down or left depending on the app

Can i add a thing to the things that bother me on ios: why does it has to be so complicated to copy files from a computer to an ios device? You nees to use itunes (not on linux) or you need to setup a smb share in your pc and then mount it in the device via wifi (and even like that you can't access the entore file system). On android you just need to copy and paste files.

Just get a 12 or 13 mini use it for 5 years and get a 17 pro it will feel like using the best phone ever created
If a phone has a listed thickness, and then a camera bump that makes it thicker than it's stated thickness, then it's not as thin as they say. I hate the term "credit card sized" because most things that are "credit card sized" are significantly thicker than a credit card. Same thing here. If your camera bump makes your phone twice as thick, then your phone isn't as thin as you claim it is.
(I have a dbrand grip case on my pixel 8 pro, because I hate the massive camera bump, which isn't a bump with this case.)

Every time I see the base 17 vs Air arguments I laugh. Ultra wide is useless for me, I would rather miss the telephoto, for the speaker I wouldn’t lose anything since I have headphones and/or Hi-Fi systems always on hand, battery in real life is around the same and yes, it may be topped at 20W but it charges at basically the same time as the base 17. The real deal are the Pros, but I wouldn’t upgrade my titanium Pro for an aluminum one, which is only a marketing move to produce cheaper phones and get more profit
Despite Linus (and Riley) being biased against Apple, he was spot on this time. Since the iPhone 16/iOS 18 release, not just iPhone 17/iOS 26, there have been a few bugs/polish that’s just been not Apple like.
I feel like as someone who has had both normal ipads and ipad airs, apple should have just kept the air for ipads and the macbooks

What if instead of the iPhone Air they released a feature parity iPhone Mini with a 120 Hz display and a silicon carbon battery (all of their phones should have them yesterday). Apple would then be the ONLY PHONE MANUFACTURER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD in this segment of the market.
