The moving texts in the screen look silly
Can’t this just do everything your phone already does? What is the point?
2:27 Oh Reed, please tell me you did not just drop the most subtle "67" of all time! Please tell me your kids put you up to this 🤣
People will complain about the touchscreen numpad, then simultaneously people will say to use an old smartphone as a remote instead…
So they acquired the Logitech Harmony IP? Same functionality and same price point.
Would love to see how the Unfolded Circle Remote 3 compares!
Mine arrives on Tuesday and I’ll be comparing to my harmony and the x1s. Excited and scared lol
I really wish someone somehow figures out to "UNDERSTAND" the orientation of the remote and where it is exactly pointing at in a room and the functions automatically change.
like if I am pointing it at TV, and pressing volume down keys, then the TVs volume goes down, but if I am pointing it at a ceiling light and then pressing the volume down key, it starts to dim the lights.
What? No RF???
I would use this but im already too deep into my home-assistant dashboard controlling everything I have spent too many hours setting everything up lol and that price tag of $359 aint cutting it.
Seems every smart home Youtuber got one of these free for Chrimbo, which tbh makes me not want to buy the product as it seems to be more of a mass ad placement than an actual genuine review.
The X1S doesn’t need a charging dock, because it only needs to charge once every 2 months.
I now use a Harmony Elite, but recently got my remote 3 from unfolded circle. Did try to set it up, but can't figure it out (yet). Maybe I try this one…
The stupidity in all these comments saying it's too expensive or "just pick up a phone" or whatever… it's just mindblowing. These people really have no clue what they're talking about, how much effort, time and money it takes to design something like this, and they haven't a clue about its use cases. I have tried to explain as much as possible in the comments… all in vain I guess, but oh well. 🙂
Nah $350 for a remote is crack prices.
67… wtf
looks like someone finally made a lifeline for all of us Harmony holdouts 👍🏽
I am new to home assistant but starting to to integrations to control a home theater room including lighting and fireplace. It seems like home assistant can completely be the brain for this. Sofa baton looks like it duplicates the control functions in home assistant such that it could completely stand on its own, is that right? I’d like to be able to trigger the same scenes / automations with the remote but also with a dashboard in phone or tablet, I am not sure if that is possible or if I would be using more logic that lives in sofa baton rather than HA?
The team over at Sofabaton must high from huffing their own farts. $360 for a remote is insane! It's old tech. Harmony did this decades ago. I have 2 original Sofabatons, they were like $40 each. At $360 this product is a LOOSER! That pricing is insulting to Sofabaton's customers.
I cannot get my X2 to connect to alexa or Google home. I just want to be able to turn on and off my TV Sound Bar and Direct tv receiver. I have an activity that works fine to do this but alexa or google home will not find the activities
I'm sorry but it's really hard to justify the $360 price tag when this thing does certain things really well and other things not so well. Like sure, it's an all in one remote, I get that, but I'd rather the consensus be that this thing does nearly everything perfectly and there is little fault with it. What once started off as a budget brand, Sofabaton is now trying to capitalize on the void left by Harmony, hence the steep price. The problem is they simply don't have the name recognition to actually justify the cost.
5:04 yeah hell nah. 359 for a piece of garbage that can brick itself on a firmware updates is a no.
Charging dock? Ugh…. Just put a usb c port for charging.
I bought the X1S about a year and a half ago and it is hit and miss what will come on and what will turn off..I hate the damn thing!!! I've ugraded the software and tried everything and it still wont turn my apple tv on or off most of the time…Also Sony projector has same problem…I wished I had never bought the damn thing..I'm still having to leave my other remotes on the table because the damn remote won't consistently turn everything on and off!! I wouldn't buy another product from this company till they work all these problems out..I paid $165 for the X1S!!!! what a waist of money!!
An app? Why not just have everything exist on the app on the phone? Or why not let you program stuff on the remote? Why an app?
Or we just get an old phone, install a dashboard and leave that on the coffee table
I can see pulling my hair out setting one of these up
does it have a mic so i can use google assistant with it like i can with my Sony TV remote?
Anyone know if they've fixed the connection issues with non-IR nvidia shield pros yet? BT stops working every few days on my X1s.
Cheaper to buy a smart phone to use as a remote , thats how rediculous this remote is.
Products like this remind me that I don’t make enough money. I can’t justify spending almost two full days of pay on a remote.
The remote looks great but at this point why not just use your phone? For the same price you could get a used phone and just setup a Home Assistant dashboard for that mobile device.
I have had the X1S for the last three months and I can say, it's unrelible, app is complete trash, and the buttons feels cheap.
it works 60-70% of the time,
many times when I start an activty, the remote doesn't control the googleTV, and sometimes I have to leave the acivites tab and go to the devices tab and choose the GoogleTV and fixes the issue, and sometimes I have to start another activity, then go back to the GoogleTV activity for it to work.
I use HTTP commands to control my HA server (Which is basicly the same as the MQTT messages, so it's a bit of a "scam" of them to say they added Home Assistant support) and some times when I toggle the lights from the remote, it takes 2-5 seconds for the light to toggle, even though my UniFi U7 Pro Wall is literally facing the hub and is just 4 meters away!
The app is completly trash and there are some requests that have been on the official fourm for years and they haven't even fixed, like you can't add or remove a device after you create an activity, if you updated what a button does for a device, for example you changed what the "Channel Up" button does on the AppleTV, it doesn't update the button in the activities, you will have to manually go to every activity that uses the AppleTV and update the command of the "Channel Up" button.
Also I can't just map a command to a button. For example I have the green button turn on the AC, and Red button turn it off and Yellow button controlls the lights, I can't just pick up the remote and turn on the lights, I have to either go to devices and pick my custom (Lights & AC device that sends HTTP commands to HA) to controls the lights, or start an activity and wait for it to finish, then I can control the lights.
The API is cloud based, and doesn't even have a password, so anyone in the world can just start trying random urls until he is able to controll someones whole room, you can't download the backup to your phone, you always rely on their servers, I can go on and on.
Unfortunatly, even though I don't really like it, and it isn't that relible, there isn't another option for this price and will have to stick with the X1S.
The people complaining about how much the remote costs aren't the target audience, and that's fine. It's a niche product for a niche market, and the price is reasonable for what it does.
I have the remote 3 and is so f*cking annoying to use and the battery dies in less then a day
This is great, I've been looking for a replacement for my Harmony remote.
I'd pay like $100 maybe $150 for this, but almost $400 is insane
I got an X2 a couple of weeks ago. The setup is pretty rough, but it works well once you get it going. The hardware is great but the software still needs work, to be honest it feels a bit like it's in beta. The updates work fine but it has had to resynch itself randomly a few times for some reason and that takes about 5 minutes. It might be related to firmware updates. The phone app is good. It takes a while to figure out how to program it but once you figure you their philosophy it's not too bad. I have not started the HA integration yet, almost ready for that rabbit hole
With the X1S, you can use webhooks to control home assistant. If you are clever with how you set up the webhook, it can be just one route with params that tell it what entity you want to control. Adding a new button then just becomes copying an existing link and changing the device. I have a few routes to handle different actions but I could probably reduce this to just one route if I added setting the action in the params.
I think you should have ended with seeing Paul Hibbert as the Eye of Sauron shouting "Home Assistant" while using the One Ring…
