AMD is still king of the castle with their new Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming CPU, but that doesn’t always mean it’s the right chip to buy. Now hurry up and release Zen 6.

Some commenters have pointed out that the 9850X3D does have higher power consumption in some loads. We know, and we show this in our gaming load test.
I'm the one who wrote the line saying I don't consider it a problem. AMD is well below the rated TDP of the chip in these boost scenarios, and this is nothing even nearing what Intel was doing to desperately juice clock speeds in the 14nm+++ days.
I saw it. I just don't consider it a problem. At the end of the day, this is a slightly faster chip for slightly more money. Thermals and power consumption are well under control, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
I think there could have been room to discuss how the extra few watts in gaming could affect SFF gamers, who may prefer the 7800X3D or may need to play around with undervolting on the 9000 series X3D chips so that's good feedback. We try to be concise and it's not always easy to fit in all the nuance. – LS
A tiny error in our Blender Render chart was caught. The label values of the Core Ultra 7 265K and the Core i9 14900K are correct, but the length of the bar is 11 seconds longer than it should be. This results in what appears to be minor visual anomaly. The 265K's and 14900K's render durations are a second apart, but the 265K's bar is a bit longer than what would be a single second difference. The underlying value which determines the bar length was off by 11 seconds, thus the bar looked longer than it should.

your reviews are worthless and tone deaf in this economic climate
2:32 I mean I am with 5080… really need to get around to new monitor, but theres too many choices and it has tp be work + play….
core ultra's bottleneck at low settings if you have a high end gpu.
Anno 117 really is the worst optimized game of the year😂 even with the best gaming CPU it barely is 6% better😂 Ubisoft had to screw it up
That Gollum Linus at 2:47 is the best thumbnail that's ever been on this channel. By far.
Hell nah ,went with a i5 14600k and if i wanted to spend 400 euros on a processor id buy a i7 or a i9 way better then amd
Linus and team
I was wondering if you have seen the new allegation that ubiquiti has been aiding Russia in the war vs Ukraine?
Just curious on yours or anyone’s thoughts on the matter.
Glad I'm still on my 5700x3d with a 5080, play native 4k and it's perfectly fine still.
LTT got a golden sample. The other reviews saw significantly higher power usage.

"AMD Wrecks Efficiency for Just 4% More Performance"
Sadly wont be buying. Ram prices too high and my current rig is fine
Why not test games like Factorio, Stellaris or Europa Universalis where your CPU is an actual limiter on how fast the game can run?
I ran i9 1440k at 6ghz all day long with a thick ass tripple AIO rad with no RGB but instead high performance fans that HUMMED, pretty pc doesn't make fast. The dullest of them all is the sleeper that wins the race
no 9950x3d or 7800x3d testing? seems like it would be fitting given they're likely also chips people around this price are looking at
Can we all just bask in the ambiance that is the 5800X3D?
🐐
My 7800x3D still winning
I still use R5 2600…
Where are the factory game mega base tests?
Factorio even runs without a GPU.
Can it handle a one million science per minute base at 60 fps/ups?
I would have liked to see how the 9950x3d compares as a 5.7Ghz boost ccd
6:02 You want to tell me that AMD slide says 120W TDP, yet you see no problem with it actually drawing 140-160W ???
uuuuh…
2:10 insert obligatory joke about people who play CS (apparently someone explained to me that lower resolutions actually affect the visual hitboxes back when it was still CSGO?)
You have to be pretty stupid to buy 9850x3d. Linus is obviosly in lisas pocket, its the worst amd upgrade yet, starts to remind me how intel was treating us just before amd took over, incrimental upgrades with price growing higher and higher, its almost a monopoly when one player is shot in the leg
Still rocking my 9950x3d
Rage bait
Is that a new sweater he's wearing or a discontinued one? I want it but don't see it on the LTTstore.
Hey LTT i have 2 questions. in todays market why dont graphic card manufacturers go back to upgradable memory moduals? like sell it with 2 sticks ddr4 and give us the ability to upgard the card ? and has anyone ever made a dual socket motherboard but with a gpu socket and a cpu socket instead of 2 cpu's? if not why not? seams like this would offer better transfer rates than pci. this would also allow the gpu to directly access memory, giving rise and more use out of higher the quanity of ram we already have in our pc's – Thanks
0:38 dry more Power ? Its Like 15-25% more …
