You know, maybe mouse and keyboard isn’t the best way to game. Perhaps we’ve got it all wrong. Well, that’s what Thrustmaster and Microsoft thought, so they made these atrocities.

  1. The dual strike actually works and is a cool idea but is hard to outmatch either a controller or mouse/keyboard.

I watched this tilted(drunk) and have no idea what I watched even when somewhat sober

  2. Loved this collab between Linus and Big Linus

  3. PS5 controller > mouse and keyboard.

  4. I love my Logitech G13. I still use it and have all kinds of profiles for different games, Adobe software and other software. I know, it's not a 90s controller but very old by todays standards. Unfortunatly no company has come out with something that can even remotely compete with the G13 and Logitech has discontinued it.

  5. Are you telling me the standard control scheme isnt the arrow buttons to move, and A to attack?

  6. Will you be looking for a Gameport to USB adapter to try the Fragmaster on a modern PC? I mean it might not recognize the specific hardware but I would assume you could bind it to at least try head-to-head with the Sidewinder.

  7. This reminds me of that lan party with the duct taped to the ceiling kid picture haha that was in my friends basement 🤣

  8. You do know they make Gameport to USB adapters?

  9. A thing to note…. In the early 90's there was a lot of poorly done controllers, not surprised to see some funky ones!

The fact is… we all use a mouse and keyboard on a daily basis. We know where the keys and buttons are. We know where our mouse pointer will be when we move the mouse. Even if there is a better controller out there, it will never feel as natural.

  10. I had a friend that owned one of the SpaceOrb spherical controllers in the mid 90s. He was actually able to play Quake fairly well with it. But even he hated it. 🙂

  11. 10:57 confirmed

  12. The Fragmaster looks like the spaceships in Independence Day. I'm actually wondering if they used it as a prop in that movie for the alien ship's controller… Need to go look up some images from that movie.

  13. wait half life has official support for this thing?????

  14. I'm kinda amazed that the dual strike if fully functional on modern machines. I actually loved that controller but it's life span when used every day for hours is really short. In 3 months or so it started having issues and just before the full year it completely died.

  15. I wish you cover some early 2000s controllers, especially motorbike controllers like Thrustmaster Freestyler Handlebar, Yamaha MS-1 controller and Ducati Corse bike controller(apparently there were two versions of these. The second one is much harder to find any videos of it than the first version).

  16. flight sims are the obvious choice

  17. I had that sidewinder dual strike but never used it for fps games. Only flight Simulators. Worked like a charm

  18. I love that intro bruh lmao.

  19. I remember them on my stores back then… The where very expensive!!!

  20. I remember the days when these things were in computer stores. It wasn’t obvious that the same mouse and keyboard people were using for spreadsheets and word processing was what people would use for gaming. Turn out, they did.

  21. That sidewinder controller was something they’d use in an 80’s hacker movie about life in 2007.

  22. How about an arduino project to get the frag working and then run flight sim, seems perfect for it

  23. The intro is hilarious! 😂

  24. I miss kills being called frags 🙁

  25. so its just like playing cs with a steering wheel

  26. I had the dual strike. By today's standards, yeah it was hot garbage, by standards back then, still hot garbage but it was a controller for the PC man so we didn't complain

  27. Shooters were a lot slower and more methodical back then. Particularly since most control schemes by default were clunky.

  28. I enjoyed watching your agony while you tried to use these lovely controllers- and I did wonder how well that Fragmaster would work to play Star Wars the Arcade Game…
