One thing I would have like to see is how the webcam exposes all the controls and if they map as much as possible to the standard USB Video Class so they're controllable by third party software.

can't wait for Nvidia's DLSS work on these webcams. Yes, it does work, but right now you need to program your own software to do this for you.
I use a DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro as my webcam because I already have it for other purposes and the image quality is way better than some random webcam.
For me was it between the meet 2 and the mx brio. I ultimately decided on the meet 2 as it was cheaper, looked like a better offering, seemed like a pretty good experience out of the box (I'm on linux so I'm not installing software for my webcam), and that I had just thrown out my 10 year old PoS C920 that couldn't autofocus because apparently the factory tightened the lens too hard.
No Logitech C920 – literally the most popular webcam ever sold, and in most regions still the most popular.
So the Piko Software is fine to have. However you still got to download it (Probably cough..) to "tweak" picture quality. But the Elgato Software aint nothing to talk about. It actually does the same thing….not saying better, but still does do it……But, Naa…. Let move on. to lesser known products that make you do the same thing…….maybe, probably, with less functionality than Elgato…….I Don't give AF about Elgato. but they do got some good sh*t.. Most things suck out of the box. But with free software. that can make a real diff. Elgato is big business. However, it just works & works good….Unfortunately…..Fact.
This seems strangely non comprehensive. No Logitech c920 for comparison to the most popular webcam ever. No comparison to some cameras that support webcam function. No use of a camera to webcam adapter. No obsbot Tiny 2 non-lite (far higher spec than the lite). Still covers most sensible options for most folks but just a few more would have really made the difference.
More videos like this please. With all the resources of labs, this should be possible. So many product categories in tech are absolutely horrible to research on. And all the reviews that exist are sponsored. Same for household products like vacuum cleaners, dishwashers etc
The fisheye effect is a big no for me considering that during calls it is a nightmare seeing someone too far.

Insta360 Link 2 is spectacular and also works great with Linux.
Also, if you are a Linux user, stay away from Elgato as far as you can. It is terrible. Mac and Windows users are fine, though…

It's a pity you didn't mention whether the software supplied with the cameras works on Linux or whether the camera remembers the settings in the device – so once set up, it doesn't require software…
I always recommend the DJI Pocket 3. It's a full-fledged portable video camera, with exceptional low-light performance, that can be a webcam as well.
Meanwhile I'm using the PS2 eye toy with no AF.
When you pass 200usd isn't it better to consider some action cam?

Just use a DJI Pocket 3 as a webcam. 1 inch sensor, PTZ function. Insane quality. Goes for as much as that razer webcam

I’ve decided that since I already own a Sony full frame camera and know how to use their stupid software. I will deal with the headache and errors that come along with using a camera as a webcam. Let’s just say I always have the best quality webcam in those very necessary Teams meetings

guys. you forgot 1 important feature – Windows Hello compatibility, so that your cam can bu used as a face recognition tool. Inly a handfull of cameras can support that.

Whenever I see webcam comparison, I wish for phones to be included.
I know: there are many more phones out there, prices are all over the place and not all solutions have convenient software to use them as webcam.

The Nintendo camera is why i stopped supporting Nintendo. There is no way that they thought 480p in 2026 was going to cut it. And I'm a Nintendo guy through and through. But i can't support what they're doing

Why no mention of Windows Hello support? Seriously it's a feature that plenty of business users want in their web cam. The Lenovo 510 FHD is a good cheap 1080p USB-C with Hello integrated camera – $45. As most of the corporate video conferencing apps only support 1080p anyway 4K isn't a requirement for a lot of people.
