They're basically oversampling on purpose using AI, so instead of recovering lost detail and restoring the game to how it would have looked with higher settings or performance, they're inserting hallucinated graphics from other games entirely or real life.
With no understanding of the game's art style, this is going to look like slop because it's an assumed average of every other game and photo. It's not… obviously.

I actually think it looks good. But that doesn't change that this isn't what I want on an upscaling algorithm.
This should be something entirely separate, that I might turn on in some games. Maybe with a fade that will let it not be so overdone.

I don't like realistic game graphic.
Looks more like an upscaling filter, rather than raw resolution upscaling. I don’t know why they think a filter should be used as a base reference for measuring resolution. It’s kind of backwards thinking.
