Just going to put my opinion over DLSS here. To the best of my understanding, camera software on most modern smartphones (especially "flagships") no longer write down direct sensor data to the image file. They also "make it prettier"… I have way more of a problem with that approach than with the same phenomena in games. In games, you are already playing in fictional world, so it matters way less. However, there is one more thing. Consistency. Does anyone know, is DLSS handling the same game always the same way? Meaning – if I were to play a mission in one game and then replay it – does it always render the objects the same way, consistently? Or it does this "on the fly" so that every playthrough, you see (slightly) different gameworld? Or if people use different graphic cards – how is the same game rendered on those? If it is consistent, I don't care that much. If not, I care a lot. And yeah – when making pictures from real world, I want there to be an option to not edit the photo at all. On my phone, I don't have Apple/Google software, so I think that my phone captures the world "as is"…
I love that nvidia is doubling down on graphics fidelity. While valve is actually looking at what people are using. And focusing on low performance practical machines and optimisation. Will be interesting see what becomes more popular
I think dlss 5 brings up the question, Do we respect and enjoy the art form of games? Is it important to preserve the artistry of the development team who poured hours into building it and designing it. I think there are cases where this is important to preserve and cases where it is obviously not important based on the intention of the devs.
Give the devs control over how dlss affects their game and then maybe the artists intentions can be protected.

I'm sitting on a 7800xt , never used Frame Gen- I'm a purist though Rasterization or nothin' – I don't care/want fake frames of any kind.

Though it being pushed out as DLSS 5 is kinda bad marketing strategy, though in more likely scenario it's just a separate setting, besides Super Sampling, Framegen, Ray Reconstruction (which overrides Super Sampling)

The Xbox controller issue was most likely the firmware on the controller. It needs to be updated via a windows PC to be compatible with Linux.
My issue with "DLSS 5" is that it's being introduced as DLSS rather than another feature in Nvidia's AI suite (DLSS, Frame Gen, Reflex etc).
It implies that this won't be optional other than refusing to operate any future DLSS versions past 4.5. If you want to enjoy and utilize any other future advancements? Tough shit, you must engage with the AI slop to do so. If people want this in their games, cool. Let people enjoy their slop. But don't force the rest of us to "enjoy it".

The entire way Nvidia has gone about this and showing it off has been wrong. Period. Not wrong because it exists. But how they're implying this is going to be a mandatory "feature".

15:11 if the game is made with only the intent of rendering with dlss 5 then it becomes part of the fundamental pipeline and would probably be fine (assuming theres consistency still, imaging a persons face changing through scenes if it was temporarily applied logic that reevaluated regularly between scenes), all the artists and devs will have made it with that purpose and intent, if its being applied to games that already exist in 2 modes i could see more issues arising. Alignment of artistic vision, QA… Its like ray tracing i tend to hate especially on console because the delay for rt pixels to update has that blur effect without the newer denoisers and add fsr on top and it looks horrible (then add mediocre LCD smudge)… Traditional rendering looked better in motion.
So the biggest problem here for the demo wouldve been them not designing something specifically for this and using already released games and slapping it on top. It was always going to polarize people like reshade colour palette changes and effects.

Haven't watched the whole wan show just yet but I had a similar issue connecting my xbox controller to my steamdeck and the solution was I had to connect it to a windows computer and update the drivers before it would work

DLSS5 is the definition of yoj own nothing and like it because as you said, even if you own physocal media with physical assets, those assets could be so crummy that they dont work unless you run it via DLSS and you know Nvidia are going to paywa that shit at some point and thats even if they make the hardware available that can run it, DLSS requires so much grunt, I would not be supprised if its only available from streamong services, it certainly seems like its true intention is to minimise back end resourcing and pushing it to real time procesaing directly paid for by consumer consumption credits.

Install Arch Linux, Install X11 and KDE Plasma (dont use wayland) for amd drivers you just do pacman -Syu and for nvidia drivers go get them from the official website
After your KDE Plasma setup is done, add on your desktop brightness widget and adjust your keyboard brightness DIGITALLY
And about controllers: On this setup I had NO ISSUES NO TINCKERING AT ALL while connecting xbox 360 controller and playstation 4 controller and playsation 5 controller and all there of them worked perfectly no drivers needed and also touchpad worked just fine on PS controllers as a mouse cursor

The issue with the drones over fires isnt so much them falling, its the lithium batteries that were just dumped into a fire that now makes it a hazmat issue!
DLLS5 is in the worst state it will ever be in right now. It will only get better. One day there will likely be a point where you will prefer DLSS cause it objectively will look better. It might not be today but someday
For those crying about DLSS 5's 'filter' being too realistic looking, and that it'd ruin the look of cell shaded or cartoony looking games, what's to stop Nvidia/developers from training a model on cartoons and anime for games they want to look animated? Seriously, we've been around AI for long enough that ppl should honestly know how this stuff works by now… Stop making problems were there aren't any.
a few things … keep in mind:
– a vast majority of players are underage and by and large .. not exactly interested in the artistic style compared to "does it look cool". Concerns for artistic styles tend to appear in adults (not saying there are teens and children that do care)
– is there a statistic about : how many people turn on resolution upscaling on older low resolution youtube videos? Nvidia offered that feature with the first RTX card, i think? …
– this discussion mimics DLSS upscaling .. when people complained that upscaling inevitably needs to "invent" parts of the finished render.
As a personal conclusion .. if i can turn it off .. its OK with me. Right now .. every game offers the option to play native or use an upscaler. If it requires 2 GPUs worth a used car … its only the top 1% that can use it anyway .. so who cares. A HUGE majority of players (not north america, but the world) uses much weaker GPUs than the RTX50s or even 40s. I have not read up on steam statistics, but i have a feeling that the majority is still on GTX16/10 cards or 30 at best.
I find it wild, so many people (or bots) on here defend the ai girlfriend look.
