I find what also helps with the doom scrolling etc is turning the phone to black and white (greyscale) display!
I have an extension for my browser that hides Shorts completely.

Why would I ever use an "app" for youtube? The default youtube experience is now unwatchable after they messed it up so much. Nearly half of the plugins I use with Firefox directly address youtube UX issue from list view, ordering, buffering, sound mixing, CC, no endless play for music videos in private mode, open source timestamp libs etc. And yes, there are actual hide-shorts plugins around, I'm not waiting for the ad-selling company to actually provide features related what is for them filler material that wastes their shelf place.
I already made an extnesion that hides the "Most relevant" and all "Shorts" … they're just plain annoying imo (especially in the subscriptions tab) not becasue I cannot stop haha but still good news though

I don’t have the option just 15mins
I just completely disabled history and recommendations and deleted all of the data YouTube had collected about me (at least to the extent what they let me delete) and it is just great. Absolutely no shorts (aside from channels I subscribe to but without ability to scroll) only black screen with "Recommendations are off" and that is true also for the home page.
My "home page" is now basically the subscription section so I consciously choose which channels I want to consume content from and if I want to find something "new" I just have to go and search for it. The mindset change from "this thumbnail and title is interesting" to "What my selected favourite channels produced today" just totally cut my watch time down because I can check the YouTube just once in a day and then I know for sure nothing new wouldn't be there the second time I open it so I just don't do it.

I don't listen to the studio album anymore because the live one is so much better. In every other instance that I've heard a live album, I've preferred the studio album. But I bet there are countless recordings out there by other bands who have also created a live performance, that even with those limitations, dominates their meticulously produced studio album.

IOS had an update, shorts are no longer recommended but the shorts button is still accessible
Why not change in mid stream? Companies/governments do it all the time :). Game = Software = Autodesk etc. (popcorn, patience and please no spoilers)
