I know I’m just getting started but if you have any questions or ideas about 3D printing let me know!
Do you have any walkthroughs of how you connect your devices together? I know not everything needs a "tutorial" but it would be cool to see how you connected your alien cube to notifications across your devices or something "simple"
Could you tell us that make and model IR motion sensor? I can't seem to find it.
What exactly is the cloud lamp thing? Is it a switchbot ir hub?
I bought the Third reality Smart Switches for my apartment since they just snap over existing light switches, but I broke some of the brackets accidentally. Designed and printed replacement brackets, and it gave me the confidence to try and make my own version using a small motor and something like an RPI zero. Still working on the code side before I finalize it
Is fusion 360 still free for personal? I cant seem to find the personal free license
nice one) excellent))))) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENn90fWTWFc
That swiveling contact sensor holder is awesome!
Cool functional designs! 😎
You simply pull your hair out learning CAD and fusion 360.
Almost 500k subs and F360 No-commercial license, no wonder they are pulling a plug
You need a Sandman Doppler for that nightstand. Hit us up if you want to try out the Sandman Doppler.
I don't know if you're up for tinkering with your printer but I would personally recommend a Pi with Klipper and Mainsail/Fluidd over Octoprint any day. Setting up Klipper can be a hassle because you need to config your printer, but for my ender 3 the example worked perfectly. Mainsail is just so sleek and fast and because of moonraker exposing everything about your printer as webhooks in your lan, the sky's the limit.
There's an endless list of things I want to design/make/print sitting on my desk and I just keep adding more to it. I might need to start blogging or something to make all this time worthwhile lol. Great video, keep it up!
In terms of how extreme you can go with these these things. I completely rebuilt a microscope with new electronics mounted with 3d printed parts and a camera mount set to the focal distance of the lens to take pictures and output a live feed. Same with small automotive parts, outdoor items(petg, abs), telescope mounts, hell even 3d printer parts done recursive style
Which smart led strip did you use for the cube? 🙃
@01:12 I mean… I'm not saying you have to buy a *Mitutoyo AOS * for 125.- but man do I never regret having bought one after buying a cheapo one first… I got the Mitutoyo like 2y ago and it is still running the Batteries it shipped with despite me constantly forgetting to turn it off whereas the cheapo ones – with a friggin' auto off timer?! – probably having run through like 10 batteries in the same time frame which gets old really fast when you need to measure something but it's out of juice.
I've been thinking to buy a 3D printer for ages, but I don't know what to look out for.
I know nothing of it to be honest.
It just looks nice to have and to print stuff out.
I like the notification cube. It's a neat idea.
God i've wanted a 3d printer since the early 2000s — when they were expensive. I need to buy one soon though, but i get overwhelmed with the choices and end up not buying anything. It's an endless cycle
Been there.. and on shit!! It’s 7:00 and I’ve been on fusion 360 for 6 hours I need to start dinner haha.
That cube light is really cool!
Just wanted to say thankyou for your videos, you do a great job of evaluating all the different products and their usefullness. Building my smart home based off your recomendations. Keep it up, and Luna is great too!! lol
Print a camera support to attach it to the 3d printer bars.
I made my own vertical wall support for my IP camera (which doesn't have one not even a commercial one). I made a xiaomi wireless support for handle the button in the wall. There's a lot possibilities.
"…it's pretty easy… you get a caliper… then you can JUST… use Fusion 360… then just print it… "
WOW. Talk about false representation. None of those steps are "just that easy" and you know it.
I wonder what would happen if Paul Hibbert got his hands on a 3D printer🙃
You can also do mid print layer stops and stick in an NFC sticker to make your own smart objects. Just leave a pocket in the model when designing and tell the slicer to add a pause command at the right layer height. I’ve recently started playing around with this and programming the stickers all on my phone.
Dude, you literally posted this video the day I bought my first 3D printer! That’s a bit creepy. 😄 Your idea for the garage sensor is ge-ni-us though! I’ve been struggling with my garage sensor for a while now and this seems like a magnificent solution! Thank you.
Great Video!
Thanks for the mention.
I just got 3 Ender 3 S1 Pro printers they are great so far. I hope that you have inspired even more people to get a printer and learn how to solve simple problems with it. And if all you print is other peoples designs you are missing out on a great feeling of taking an idea from your head to a physical working device in just a few hours.
