You guys need some good consumer protection laws. Only 499,99€*😂
*Maybe, don't count on it
I have been using keepa to monitor prices for so many years
It only works with amazon though.
In germany we also have "Geizhals" which is an invredible tool to get information, pricing and pricing history and the diffrent suppliers in many diffrent tech-ish products
I used to use Pricespy, especially for it's deep specification comparison tools, but it's been rather enshittified of late
If you want to know the future of an unregulated shopping experience, just open a Chinese webshop. They take this subject even further. Nearly all prices they list are 'starting at' but not for the actual item but for a cheap accessory. Extreme theoretical example: buying a laptop, starting at 9.99! And that item is a cheap mouse or a power cable. More realistic example, look for a simple switch (the kind you press), see a price of 0.88. Wow that looks like a great price! Except you see a switch that costs 6 and the 0.88 product is a weatherproofing grommet that fits the switch.
Corporations only understand big money losses. Vote with your wallet.
Corporations are no longer interested in "reputation". They don't worry about fines, because they are many times smaller than the profit made by breaking the law.
Therefore – VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET!!!
Don't you realize Delete Me is owned by the same parent company that own the data broker companies????? Instead of making a few pennies for selling someone's data is a big package, not they get a monthly subscription for each person's data for ever. This makes stealing everyone's data much, much, much more profitable to steal, and makes the problems much, much, much worse. DON'T MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE!!!!! DON'T USE DELETE ME!!!!!
Keepa is my friend.
And I want to say that knowing beforehand the price of the item helps a lot. Always useful to check from various source. Now, if you excuse me, I have an almost complete collection of LTT screwdriver to sell, 1000 dolllars each is fine to me.
Wait, you dont have price aggregators in North America? Thats insane.
I agree with all of this. But .. a person must think when he makes a choice. "Economy" is always a marketing trick, even if it concerns a product that is currently in trend. "Impulse shopping" is a search for an excuse for one's own irresponsibility. "99% off" is also just advertising. And this must be taught to children from the very beginning, otherwise adults will grow up who believe that "money comes from ATMs".
We have forgotten personal responsibility for our actions.
Is Bestbuy still around?
For people from the Netherlands: tweakers is great for comparing tech prices.
Behind every decision is a person. Not a corporation. A person. How a specific person or several people together make decisions to use things this way. Until specific people are "punished", nothing will change. Corporations only understand big fines. People only understand punishment every time.
The easiest and most reliable price tracking over time is done by you. Know how much things should cost and use your judgement to know what’s a bargain and what’s not. You can wait a few months to have an item, you don’t have to have everything right now
*HELP* I just bought a 2019 i9 16gb ram MacBook Pro, factory reset, I ran into an issue that YouTube is SLOW and LAGGY on google chrome (preferred browser) but no issues with YouTube on safari. I need help understanding what is going on. I used windows my entire life. I been rocking an 2019 HP Envy 360x Ryzen 5 for 7 years and never had this happened to me on YouTube.
You could live in EU, and then you will have a bit more rights. Not all of them, but some.
So it's a BS number. Got it
The whole video I was like: This is a problem of uneducated consumers. Just use Idealo or something.
"Something like that" does not really exist in Northamerica.
Me: Ohhh
Side note: For Amazon, "Keepa" is good browser extension recording price history for amazon (directly on the product page), including New, Warehouse Deals, Used, Sales, …
Not sure if it works in north america
Recommended Retail Price should be a must for all products! All manufacturers should clearly show their RRP, so we see exactly the greed of Retailers.
Another EU W
Im just imagining cpu companies testing for a golden chip and the advertising their new cpu as "up to [unrealistic number]
Ghz" because they found one chip that could.
Scraping is an absolute nightmare now. Well 3 years ago it was trivial because you could hit everything from us-east-1 and call it a day, nowadays you have to deal with browser automation, JS rendering, residential IP pooling / reputation management, … People like to ask why scraping things at scale is hard because they did it for a handful of websites so how hard can it be. The answer is the engineering challenge is far different at 50 vs 50k. It cost thousands of dollars a month to run scrapers at scale.
We have in our country site Heureka or zbozi, we have lower price and higer price and have time line. But not track China and other countries site (allegro is exeption becase they create czech "store").
Comparing historical prices between retailers is against their ToS? Yeah, that's why I set up a unique website for each retailer to track their historical prices. Funnily enough, my mate John happened to set up a website which compares the prices of my price comparison websites! So I give him a kickback for any traffic he sends to my comparison sites from his comparison comparison site.
