After decades of dreaming, Windows is FINALLY getting the diet it needs! With Microsoft’s newly released Xbox Mode for desktop finally out in the wild, let’s take a look at what it is, what it isn’t, and how much bloat they actually managed to remove.

Xbox mode looks like unneccessary dogshite.
Games run on Windows?
20 min
But it's windows they will just release win12 and forget about it
for cyberpunk you can put steam launch options to skip red launcher, and that will directly launch the game instead of its launcher
A video more that shows microsoft cant get shit together with all that layoffs…
In 200 days of playing time across many games, i have never used game bar. I dont even understand the concept. What is it trying to do?
I've had access via insider preview, its nice, but, needs some tweaking. And toggling from desktop wont get the ram usage back down unless you restart back in xbox mode. It's stupid but at least its something comparable to gamescope(linux).
no performance improvement? WTF is the point even 🙄
lol good video
Microsoft can actually make a good product when they get their nose out of shareholder arses
The labs companion article link is returning a 404
11:00 Is saving 7 seconds at boot worth mentioning? I don't know about anyone else, but I am not in the habit of turning my PC on and off all the time so this feels like a bit of a stretch as a "win".
Nvidia isn't mid range lol. Jensen don't care
It’s interesting because I don’t really see how this is much better than Steam big picture mode. Like I guess yes there is a small performance impact but it seems ridiculously minor if you run anything that’s not an extremely CPU constrained or memory constrained device.

As an Xbox player, that's not even how it behaves on actual Xbox, so if they're advertising this as an Xbox-like experience then that is just factually incorrect.
or just run Steam OS … problem solved
3:20 I would never let Microsoft authenticate with any of my accounts.
Guys at Valve are laughing their #$$ off 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great job LTT, you have made a completely pointless video (Thanks to Microsoft lol).
Edit: TL;DR, just use Big Picture mode
hi
V cool microsoft, but i already got bazzite installed and it works better than this
Looks really shitty and unnecessary. Would actually never, ever use this. Never used xbox app to game and never use a controller. May be good for handhelds if you are unable to install Linux for whatever reason. How is there any point in this for PC Gaming? This is much more complicated and distracting than regular Windows 11. Of course you got all the challenges done but they would have been much more easy with mouse and keyboard.
And I dont need xbox mode for any gdk? Sorry?
So it's just… still worse than just using IoT-LTSC?
Calling your segway to a sponsor a bloat that could not be removed – that is a risky move
I already have this running on Linux. While the backend architecture is completely different from how Microsoft is approaching it, the end result is exactly what they're trying to achieve. A seamless, console-like UI with full controller-driven navigation. I actually built the tool for it.
We should support Linux Foundation and Valve, but i will never support anything on windows.
More microslop
HOW AM I THIS EARLY
bloat hasn't been an actual bottleneck for game performance since two decades.
Microsoft will never do it, but the only way this would be useful for me is if you could set Steam as your default full-screen experience shell instead. I know Xbox mode brings in Steam games, but it's a subpar interface. I want to basically boot directly to Big Picture mode without the Windows desktop ever running. (Basically SteamOS running on top of Windows so I don't have to deal with Bazzite's subpar Nvidia support or any Proton compatibility stuff.)
Hi
there is something off with the new AI thumbnails… please find a fix, I dont like them at all
So far I think Linux is doing better….
I just want Microsoft to fail.
My dude has entirely given up on quality for quantity! Take a breather, stop pumping content and start making content again.
That's cool. Now I want all these optimizations in the main system, so I don't have to toggle this "game mode" to use my PC
imagine being the biggest software company in the world and not be able to do a software for people use it
It's called Windows for a reason 😂
