Many years ago their was a website called Lumenlabs. We all made home made projectors. I made the most powerful ever. It was a 1100 watt lamp. It looked as good as a current DLP in most ways but was 5 feet tall and 120 pounds. Fun times. I still play with projectors, when your done playing I'll take the leftovers!

Back in the mid 90s, the Sony flagship theater in Manhattan NYC had one of these alternating eye 3D systems. I saw “Across the Sea of Time” (1995) and it was beyond anything I had ever seen before.

Imax are super strict bc they have so much proprietary tech, but that is also why i want to see you pull one apart. maybe they'll let you play with one if you blur it for half the vid lmao
I used to work at a cinema in my teens/ early 20s and we used to do open air cinema with those projectors, loading them into truck and projecting on an inflatable screen. Seeing all this gear brings back memories 😂. My boss would unload and load the lamps because the risk of death when mishandling them was quite high. He did not wear a full face shield, ballistic jacket or safety gloves, just raw dogged it.

I know you keep saying that the lamp is old and dim… but I work with HID lamps all the time… they don't dim with age, they actually get brighter with age… which causes massive problems as they will eventually draw too much power and burn out their own ballast.
Based on the actual quality I am seeing in the image, you have a new, low quality lamp, need a better quality lamp… and then you need to properly center the lamp, and then seat the lens correctly… also clean the lens, both sides.
Or just ask one of the people closer to you who has volunteered to come in and fix it.
I always feel that the Projector series will end up with something lit on fire or someone blind
With the projectors getting stronger and stronger, it's more and more like someone playing with a laser.
But a potential explosion that requires full blast protection is definitely not expected.

Please try to set it up correctly, and consider using a high-power lamp to see the projector’s full potential.
put it on the firetruck an make a Drive-in Movie theater 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ at least to recoup the money spent for the projector (you'd need to find a place really remote and choose nights with near to 0 moonlight😂 oops)

You keep looking at these old Kristie projectors… I wonder if you have run into one of the most annoying problems that I have run into…
It depends on the exact model, but most of them are configurable over local networking… and many of the older ones have a baked in web interface… that runs Flash. Making it actually impossible to even load the configuration page on a modern PC.
Hey guys you should convert some your content to DCP (Digital Cinema Package) and ingest directy int the projector. There is a bunch of opensource and freetools like OpenDCP or DCP-o-Matic, but the Studio version of DaVince Resolve can encode it using GPU aceleration. Then just pop into a ext2 or beyong formated external SSD. You can get ir ready by time @BrianRoediger gets there o refurbish it!

LOL at people saying these things will kill if it explodes or sounds like a bomb. Erm no they don't.. You need the mask incase you drop the thing and up with micro quartz shards in your eyes or skin.
No they won't kill you lmao, and no they won't spontaneously go boom. If you drop one they sound like a 25c firework in an enclosed space – in the open it's just small thud. There aren't some kind of instant death device.

not a projection field expert but I do work at a movie theater with (not this specific one) Christie projectors, interesting to see someone nerd out over going through the stuff that I moan about having to go mess with lol

Use the outside warehouse wall for the projector and stand it outside on a crane so one blinds 😂
