O M G it can power on and power off of 1000$ ??????
Im sold😂
The most anticipated thing in gaming? Are you looking forward to paying twice the price or more of a ps5 just to play the same games?
You might as well stick with your pc cause only suckers will fall for this scam 🙄
Steam's reputation is simply too good. Even after nearly doubling it's announcement price, everyone still blames everything but steam. And rightfully so, considering they really don't need to upcharge their products.
If Ubisoft, EA, or Activision doubled their prices on a new release, they'd get boycotted immediately. Just goes to show how brand trust can buy a lot.
What are AV components?
Trying to compete on the console market at double the price of consoles with similar performance…
Hard pass.
Bro it’s gonna be so expensive in AustraliaðŸ˜
Everyone blames AI but the real reason is greed by Valve themselves.
yea i think the best thing to do is wait a long while so prices drop. this looks really cool and i want one really badly
at least in the US its still somewhat affordable, here in canada the base model is 1500 and the 2tb is 2000. and thats before the added 15% sales tax
1040 euro pc if you dont have a pc this is your best option.
'FAHHHH' at the price 😂
Better than nothing.
So there is no reason to get this over a console then, with those insane prices
So first xbox makes a fridge, PS makes a wifi router, and now steam makes a dishwasher? 😂
It is sad how price is not worth it Instead of buying this you should just buy a base PlayStation or build. Pc yourself
Bro forgot about the $1,000 price tag
Valve is a few years late releasing steam machine, the performance kind of similar to PS5 and the real problem comes at price because of AI
Not a chance in hell I'm paying those prices unfortunately. My pc gaming now will be using GeForce Now on my Nvidia Shield TV. For £20pm I can play games at higher settings than this Steam Machine can manage.
100% could build a PC using old DDR4 tech that could do 1080p 60fps and have more than 500gb of storage for under $1,300. EASY. What a scam.
Let steam stay in store with fkin 1000 dollar tag. 😂
Sadly, DoA. Good try though.
Well is not bad for the items price problem is fair when everything will be low i guess they will low it ? I hope
Yep, I'll just stick with my PS5
Is that expedition 33 wallpaper? How do I get that?
Zero point.
As a PC enthusiast I want to love this product but at that price it isn’t going to work mass market
Yes it is the best living room pc option to date but when it has middling performance and a new console generation is potentially a year away which will compound the issue
It doesn’t sound like a smart investment at this price 😢
Combined 24 GB RAM PC in 2026 is crazy work
If anyone thinks they’re trying to scam us, there’s legit 3 reasons for this
1. AI raising prices for components needed for the steam machine (completely out of their control)
2. They do not have what Microsoft has in terms of partners that help them manufacture the steam machines.
3. They need to sell at a profit, otherwise they lose a lot of money
in australia base model is $1600 and the 2tb with controller is $2200
Without Windows it's useless. I can't believe that they dared to say play anything you want on it and then giving you access to a linux operating system that cannot install anything. Let alone messing with third party launchers for a lot of games. How the hell did they put windows 11 on the Steam deck and then a linux os on the machine??? It should have been the other way. This thing is trying to be two things in the same time and it cannot do neither of those two. A 2TB PS5 Pro is cheaper then a steam machine and you can play every single game on that because they were made for that platform. But the Steam Machine? Trying to run games and third party launchers on linux. An operating system that was never made for gaming. No you cannot plays anything you want on it. The software is weak for a console, the hardware is weak for a pc. You can build a 4K capable gaming pc with the same amount of money this thing costs and it can outperm the machine in every possible way. And that's also a full desktop experience, not a weak excuse for a pc.
Consider that the steam machine is a desktop PC, is upgradable, runs PC games that are much cheaper, and won't be deprecated like the consoles that keep coming out every year. Now factor in that absurd price of ram and components and you'll realize that, though expensive, it's not the worst idea.
They need to overcharge the heads of NVIDIA and all the other CEOs that are responsible for this shortage just for regular living expenses since they have made all our lives harder to own anything without taking a small loan just to play middle of the road systems this has got to stop
This price is a great shame, I was considering the steam machine vs a pc build. Now based on this I know a pc build is the way to go. With some second hand components and a descent gpu I should be able to do much better than the steam machine. However I have just put in a 10 gig fibre backbone at home to enable steam remote play on my TV, so I'll give that a go first. These memory prices are killing gaming.
When got that launched?
At this point I would just get a steam deck or another handheld they are more comfortable and portable and since the steam deck can turn into a pc too I'd just get that 😂😂
Nope. It it isn't on par with current gen consoles (excl ps5 pro) it is a hard pass for me.
If it would spec up to ps5 pro level i would buy it definitely for up to 1800USD
About what I expected.
So when do we get a complete version of SteamOS for all pc's?
There are mini pc’s on the market currently that beat the steam machine specs and land well under $1000. I’m not mad at Valve at all, but they definitely do not have a competitive device.
The background remind me of ish 1000 human civilization video
Can it play non-steam games too?
Make all the other businesses lose money so that the lump inevitably goes to the top 10 richest.
So it's an underpowered console and an underpowered PC, brilliant😂
i built my own on Amazon whishlist with a 5060 and a AM4 5500 in an ITX case for less 1000$.
We aint spending rent money on a PS4 pro 😂😂😂
Damn its smaller than i thought. It might be great for traveling.
