I don't think I ever re-applied thermal paste.. only when upgrading things.. I think I have systems here I didn't touch for 10+ years that still work fine and turbo just fine.
I'll just wait for my cpu to melt
Fan bearings will fail before you need to reapply thermal paste from my anecdotal experience.

My pc jet engine but I reapply thermal paste a couple days ago, however i don't think there is something wrong as I have Intel I7 14700KF, and it is very hot but 1.8 times stronger than my previous cpu even though it overheats to 100°+, I have AIO

If you have a All In One cooler and it is working as it should. Moving heat from the CPU to outside your PC. The AOI will explode (cooling liquid, not CPU, at 70c) before your CPU goes over the heat threshold.
Stop reading my search history. I know my old thermal paste was dry and crusty.
The third and far more common reason is: change of season. Ambient temperatures are simply higher.

What about when you have a blower 3090 that has been set to turbo for its whole life? It's been loud forever. I run about 86 degrees Celsius these days though. I was maybe going by age of the unit to determine this.
My gaming rig I built about 10+ years ago is still plugging along. I have never had issues requiring replacing the thermal paste.

Literally just repasted my laptop that I got in early 2020 on Sunday while watching Formula 1. I do monitor temps and the CPU (I7-9750H) was poking 100°C playing Forza Horizon 6. Now it's back down into the 80s doing the same thing. Meant to do it like 2 years, but I was lazy. The stuff was dried up and crusty! Good time to give the fans a good cleaning too.
I'm the only person I know capable of this! Yay for 27 years of building and fixing computers and being the tech advisor everyone who knows me comes to. Monitor your temps, folks, and if you can't, find a shop that can do this for you! I personally use ThrottleStop for temp monitoring, just don't mess with the voltage settings. I recommend repastes between 3 to 5 years. I've always used Arctic, but use whatever works for you.

My PC is getting quieter… (i bought new headphones)
once a year (I do it before summer), use paste preferably from a known good brand; Noctua, Arctic MX, Thermal Grizzly
clean the fans every few months or as needed, D/L FanControl and setup fan curves (it's super easy/light weight, watch a video)
putting thermal pads on the GPU's VRAM helps as well
make sure you have positive pressure in the case so you don't pull in dust from gaps

I recently got my PC serviced. The technician cleaned out all the dust and reapplied the thermal paste. Ever since then, it's been sounding like a truck way louder than it was before 😢

Make sure you get bubbles out of your AIO pump if you're laying your system down and lifting the pump block above your rad. Quick and easy tip to not kill your AIO in its most common failure point.
Important to note ptm 7950 will last pretty much forever with slightly lower temps so maybe replacing thermal paste with ptm 7950 is a good upgrade.
