I have a brother HL2280dw that is multi-function printer. It does scanning, double-sided and has wifi.
I've had this printer about 8 years. Works with win10/ Win11, and Debian Linux. On Debian it just found it and used it.
XEROX
I know you're in Vancouver. But I wanted to say that I have to give my respect to staples and their interior design team because it looks identical to the store on Gottingen Street in Halifax.
Can i Just say Elijah is SO HOT, god am SO GAY for him 😍
I love my Canon laser. It is a former Tektronics Phaser and makes amazing color prints for cheap.
out of all the printers ive ever delt with, its always been Brother on the best list.
19:21 best ltt ad ever !
Yra HP printers, ive sent more to printer heaven, hate the damn things
Literally bought the same Brother printer last week after my old hp finally tested my patience for the last time. So far loving it. Elijah is 100% correct. Perfect easy setup , reliable, no account required, etc. I deal with enough hp printer issues at work so very happy I don’t have to do my job at home too lol
I thought they would go to staples before they even showed it. 😂😂😂
I have a dell MFP S2815DN that's was bought in 2015 for $300 it's still going strong 11 years later it's had 1 maintenance done to it. Drum replacement and 2 toner cartridges since bought zero issues zero bloatware no crappy drivers scan to fold or smb just works. Supported on Mac Linux android or IOS. And I got it second hand for $80 in 2021.
in 2011 I bought a brand new Brother HL-2280dw laser jet printer. Still works and prints as good as it did on day 1. Wifi protocols are old, but it still connects just fine. I've not used the ethernet port in a year or so, but I know it still works. While it doesn't support Apple Airprint, I can share any document with the brother app in my phone and it will send the document to print from there over the local network (not using some cloud integration). What a great work-around/idea to keep legacy device modern.
They've updated the drivers for windows 10, and windows 11. I can't believe how well supported it still is given how old it is. 10/10 would recommend.
Elijah: "But does it work with Linux?"
Me: "I feel your pain brother… that's why I chose my Brother."
Seriously, though. Finding a good multifunction printer, that would have Linux support, ethernet, no WiFi (cause that's what infrastructure is for) and didn't cost an arm and a leg was a nightmare!
Rule nr 1 (the only rule) of getting a printer: Buy a Brother (at least it used to be)
I avoid hp printers with there bull ink subscription
Fun fact
Most if not all printers utilise CUPS, so you don't even need to worry about needing to use the latest software they give out xP
man the jokes print themselves on this one
i Dont know if its still the case but i heard and saw with the early gen printers where u can refill tanks with bottles
theyy have a sponge at the bottom with a sensor it get filled with ink with cleaning cycles the sensor triggers after certain amount of cleaning the chip/print hard locks not being able to be used anymore, no reset possible , basicly bricking the printer on purpose i dont know if its still with new gens inkt tank fill printer, but felt of sharing if i am wrong my bad.
S tier puns lol
I work in a local computer shop and we had the best experience with Canon, I myself have a Canon MB2150 for like 5 years and it’s been running really good
14:03 where is the video?!
Big fan of the brother printer and scanners. They've worked well in the kitchens I've been in.
It’s crazy to me that people are still buying scanners for personal use when phone scanning has been vastly improved and is way easier and faster
Unless it has changed, the page count for ink is based on 5% page coverage. That's about 1/3 page of text. That doesn't include nozzle testing, cleaning and clearing, all of which expel ink.
If you use ink sporadically, even the "tank" printers are going to go though an extensive cleaning and test cycle if you haven't used them in a while. If you are lucky they won't be clogged and require more cleaning. For people who don't print color or at least not often, using a monochrome laser and then sending the odd, rare, color prints to a UPS, FedEx, etc is way cheaper. Especially if you use a good aftermarket toner. It's also worth noting that Brother (and some others) typically have a seperate drum unit. HP and affiliated brands typically integrate the toner and drum.
I'd love to see a you guys do a skit like from The Office. But who would be Michael Scott?
My parents have an Epson ink tank and we barely use it, the most we have to do if its been sitting for a while is let it run its head clean program and prints greats great
Ink is so expensive its gotten to the point where I can buy a cheap ass printer to print shit instead of buying ink.
