It's important to point out that the only reason people are not throwing themselves on the new steam machine right now is entirely due to AI companies completely fucking up the PC hardware market.
Future is bright with the current SM. Difference is SteamOS and a PC Spec Target for Game developers. Just like Steam Deck, games will have better optimization and companies will make their versions of SM ie Dell/MSI/ASUS/Lenovo if feasible.
This could be repurposed to an office productivity PC or an HTPC. Or maybe retro gaming/cloud gaming.

you can try and hooking up a EGPU dock onto the msata slot but with the current cpu it has and the msata slot itself will become a bottleneck, well atleast you'll be able to extend the life out of that for abit longer with the egpu upgrade.
