  1. Thanks for watching! You all have been submitting some great automation ideas from the last video. I can’t wait to start making videos about them!

  2. If only I had more light switches in my apartment. There is one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. That's it!

  3. I absolutely LOVE the design of that RealitySwitch Switch, the way it uses one mechanism to control two different types of switch is genius! sadly I don't think it'd work with UK type switches as ours are not as big as American ones and are generally pretty stiff, a very cool design though!

  4. FYI the Google Nest Doorbell has third party options you can buy an attach to the door without any permanent damage to the door itself.

  5. Great video! Would love to see an updated version of this video coming into 2023🥹🙏🏼

  6. Love the video. Time stamp would 😣.

  7. All i did was use the ring doorbell with double sided mountain tape. Super strong tape. Hasnt fallen for 2 years or so. Honestly I want to go with ubiquity if they every have a battery powered option ill do the same with them.

  8. Hello from New York City! Do not need a wi-fi lock for front door, rather looking for wi-fi lock for a bedroom door which currently has a door knob and not a lock and key like a typical front door. Any clues appreciated. Which indoor camera's feature Power on Ethernet (PoE) and can take still or save video footage on demand triggered by a movement sensor? Thank you for informative video. Have a good weekend.

  9. Yall is taking smart home shit too far

  10. My old camera started flippin out so i bought a Newest.Technology one. Was really excited about the talking feature but my friends said “we can hear your voice through the front door.”10/10

  11. This is brilliant. I keep hearing all these ideas that requires making adjustments to the property that aren't permitted. This is the first thing that accounts for that

I was hoping this video would explain how to set up some of these things but it seems to assume a lot of prior knowledge. I guess it's not for absolute beginners like me.

  12. The video can easily be dated just after 2 years. Like the Wyze sensor kit is no longer sold and it's not well supported anymore. This is why this channel is so relevant as things keep changing so fast it's hard to keep up with out Youtubers doing product reviews.

  13. Does anyone know why Ring cancel the peephole doorbell ? That is the only one that is UL certified.

  14. 5:20 I'm more interested in that plush comfy looking couch with huge pillow cushions to sink into… Mmmmm

  15. Thanks for sharing… but where to find the devive that fits on top of the on/off switch? What is the name and the brand?

  16. Does this work if my apartment door doesn’t have a doorbell?

Has there been any update on this video or are you considering making one?

  17. I love this video. So many videos are about installing things in a house. Personally, I don't like houses and would never buy one. I would much rather rent so I don't have to fix anything on my dime. Thank you for doing this

  18. Good video. But the issue isn't really whether people "live in apartments" or not, the real issue is whether people rent or own. Only 16% of Americans live in apartments, but 37% of Americans rent where they live. If they rent, they can't change the locks or replace the light switches (although some landlords won't mind.) Let's split the difference and say 25% of Americans can't change their home due to contracts they sign. In some countries (eg, Switzerland) the percent of renters is very high: 68%. But perhaps the fact that only 14% of Chinese are renters is the reason why electronic manufacturers (which are all based in China) don't cater to renters.

  19. List of low quality products. We’ll done (no)

  20. Why doesn’t the cam have night vision?

  21. What about the internet

  22. I am having trouble regarding my wifi in my apartment. My computer works fine, my cell phone has very few bars but when I go outside, the full row of bars show up. I have a wifi enabled item in my bedroom which is about 40 feet from my modem which is in another room. That items wifi does not work. Is there a way to increase my overall signal strength so that everything works?

  23. This was helpful

  24. Where can I buy this oil please reply.🙏🙏🙏

  25. Hey, thanks! I'm about to be moving in to a new apartment, and the last time I rented this whole smart home thing wasn't a thing. Well now I want to play around with it, but unfortunately most of the videos on YouTube are about things that I simply can't do. It would be great if I could break out an entire wall to install a Smart Lock, but I just can't. Yes that's hyperbolic, yes it was supposed to be.

  26. Half the stuff he saying idk half of it too techs but I love the tv pausing when when ring cam is touched

  27. Nothing and I mean nothing that Amazon makes regarding "security " equipment is safe. They are just spying on your shit. Period!

  28. FYI as of July 2021 the light switch is not in stock with no restocking date

i feel like there should be a disclaimer when suggesting amazon products that they are hoarding all your data which could be used nefariously by governments of other nations?

  29. This for daytime only, he doesn’t even talk about night time visions at a . Be aware y’all

  30. You have done an amazing joob ! weel done ! i would like to know witch program you are using at #5:00 to set up the push of the washing machin ended ?

  31. How do I install the pep hole ring camera

  32. Thank you for this. I have an autoimmune disorder that’s affecting my cognitive abilities so this is great to have everything in one spot to cut down on mental confusion

  33. Can you do a video on the ring apartment alarm please?

  34. I'm in a mixed-income building with middle and lower-income social assistance tenants in the building. One of my neighbors set up the peephole camera on the door face and the next day one of the other tenants on the floor attacked it with a baseball bat. He said he didn't want this person spying on him and knowing who was coming on the floor and to what apartment. Many Eastern Europeans and persons from repressive regimes can have extremely negative feelings about surveillance as well. The attacking tenant Who was a member of a strict religious community also said that they were stealing his image and his soul and door camera tenant would go to hell. He threatened to smash this person's head in with the baseball bat if he ever put another camera in the hallway again. He ended up kicking the door in and entered the apartment threatening the tenant directly. Luckily, security arrived before the tenant was harmed. Cultural issues are another key factor in deciding to place cameras in a communal area such as a hallway. Even if you exit on a street, it has become quite common to steal the camera or spray paint it if you're a porch pirate stealing packages. So, I cannot recommend any solution that leaves a visible camera pointing into the hallway or externally accessible. It is a health and safety risk. There is a model of peephole camera that sits on the inside of the door and replaces the actual peephole that is available on amazon. Many buildings will not permit tenants to mount external cameras or alter the peephole in the door on their doors as it is a violation of federal Canadian and municipal privacy legislation. The landlord can place cameras in the hallways and communal areas for overall tenant security because they own the building and, in your lease, typically they have a paragraph or two about being surveilled in communal areas and what happens to that footage. You typically have to initial agreement to these clauses.

  35. Great information IF one is an Alexa fan. It would be nice to hear options for both. Actually for all. I believe some people use iOS too. And some products work for both Android Google and Alexa. We already know that Apple doesn't share and charge for photo storage even. SMH. Therefore I don't play with them. However, if you haven't it would be nice if each item were discussed separately. Example one video on light switches. Maybe one or a few that work for or with Alexa/Amazon. Along with some that work with Google/Android and yes maybe even some that work with iOS. Or not, we can leave them out too. ;-). Maybe a review of some of the different types again for the light switches in the pros and cons of each. And maybe what you thought was best of each. And of course if there's a light switch that works with Android and Alexa. I usually go to cnet website for this type of information because they do exactly that. I came here for a video option. And because I have an apartment. I truly do appreciate your video but I am definitely a Google / Android girl so not much here is going to work for me. I do wish Google / Android would step up to the plate with a similar peephole like ring has. So far I'm not getting the peephole because it is only Alexa. And possibly to probably always will be only Alexa as my understanding is it is an Amazon product. I would also definitely love the products to work with any of these groups or companies whatever you call it. So that way if I decide I'm no longer a Google girl it would be awesome to just be able to keep everything I had and switch my assistant. Sorry for the long writing. I just wanted to make that suggestion to you. I do appreciate and I did like this video. Except for the part that most to all things were Alexa. And I am currently not going to be using the Alexa or Amazon assistant. So, yes it would be awesome if you made videos on like one video for light switches and options with different assistance. Then maybe another video with smart plugs, another with hubs, I'm sure the list could go on and on. Like my post. My apologies. I just love the video and was so disappointed that I didn't see many Google / Android options for apartment dwellers. I'll keep checking back though. Amazon/Alexa is usually trying to sell things or is charging for a service that Google gives for free. Well iOS charges for ridiculous things like photo storage that again Google gives for free. So ultimately I appreciate Google for that. Somehow they remained a business without charging 99 cents a month to every million customers. Charging nothing they're still a big big successful thriving company. So again I just am a Google girl. Why pay for something you can get for free? If I ask Alexa to play me a song she'll play a piece of the song and then want to sell the song on Amazon if I want to hear it all. Google we'll play the whole song for me for free. And that is why I choose to support Google / Android when I can because I appreciate that. If they can offer it for free and stay in business so can apple and so can Amazon. Signed Google girl.
