This is why I like ROON. But, there are some awesome features from this MA. Not really a fan of HA but, things like this make me really like it. However, I’m so heavily invested in ROON for my house speakers and grouping all types with my local library of music…
I had to remove MA a few months back as it was hogging memory (0.5-1GB) making my system unstable. Has that been fixed? How much resources does it require?
we need a full DETAILED video on home asssiant for noobs PLEASE
So do you need sonos speakers for this? Or can you use esp32-Audio Boards?
This seems like a solution in search of a problem…do people really need their music to follow them around the house like this?
What mobile app are you using?
I've tried to start using music assistant to make my multi room audio more seamless, but I honestly like controlling everything on my phone via the actual spotify app. Am I able to set it up so music assistant controls the speakers and zones but I can control the music through the spotify app? Or is that kind of pointless?
What!!! No way!!! 😂 Did NOT know about the follow function! What is that that great looking little display though a few minutes in in the video?
Hey Assistant, send the playlist to the kitchen; can't wait for that
Extremely cool. Thank you for shining light on it ! I have some work to do !
good software in theory, doesnt work
Awesome video mate. I always love your outros too.
Is anyone else's OCD triggered by the 20 amp outlet in the mirror behind the Sonos speaker that winds up being recessed behind the thick walll plate? The shot shows up multiple times in the video, otherwise I would have barely noticed.
Aside from wanting to get the device to be flush with the plate, I'm wondering why there is a 20 amp outlet in that location.
I've been playing with this the last few weeks too! Lots of fun. Hadn't heard of that housewaves project. If they're using esphome they should be able to do audio ducking for announcements too. This is where it lowers the volume of the playing media then plays the announcement. I've got a PR in realdeco's sendspinzero project that implemented audio ducking for that.
Outro gave me such a good laugh, great video!!
Has anybody got Sonos + Alexa to sync?
I haven't been able to get music assistant to stream consistently to snapcast or Google speakers. The music always cuts out for like 300ms every 2 seconds or so. My setup is kind of weird though so it might be my setup. Home assistant runs in wsl, music assistant in docker, Plex as my music source on the same machine and no internal or external snapcast server setup ever got around the issue.
What app do you use as a companion for Music Assistant on your iPhone? Is it sideloaded?
Homefii flow card require equally mention for music assistant
Anything like this but with TV also so watch and hear my show on all TV's and audio
Wow! Michael Keaton has a YouTube channel😊
MA is stupidly powerful with HA here SOME of what i have it do for me.
– Music follows me through the house.
– Music change based on the suns position, time of year, holiday, event, or weather
– If my home detects theres more than 4 people in the house – up beat music starts playing, volume goes up a bit.
– TV in the living room then displays a QR code people can scan and add queue up music (no more "oh have you heard this song")
… i seriously can go on and on about how powerful MA… its seriously one of the best things about HA
I like the announcement function of Music Assistant. I don't use the default bell though, I set a custom one. You can also set it per speaker, which is something I haven't found anywhere else, so you can have the announcement only on certain speakers, or groups. Next time you feature Music Assistant, might be worth going into a bit more detail on some of the features. I know there are many, Maybe it will be a full year worth of videos 😆 😆
