Thanks for the shout-out LTT team. We just tested an HP AMD Ryzen Pro machine and both Pro and non-Pro chips were not AMD PSB locked. I came here because I found an electronics recycler who was trying to offload pallets of these for dirt cheap. Guess this explains why they have so much stock. Nobody wants them. So funny to see the year old comments predicting today.
Ah nice ah y think everything that you conect to that mothboard will be vendor locked graphics usb stick because you can tamper the firmware from everything Video bis etc but you can clone the signature and apply it to other firmware cpu or whatever
I have been in IT for about 25yrs and have spent alot of that time deploying lenovo systems which I grew very fond of. This new tactic made me hate them.
I like how I'm watching videos about mega beast gaming CPUs getting broken on purpose because why not while I'm here excited that my motherboard has 6 USB type A ports as if I'm from the 1950's

I obviously get they want to be able to sell to business customers (they exist to make money) but how dare they lock the cpu from the factory even when sold directly to standard consumers.

How do they even come up with such stupid ideas? Locking the CPU to only their systems and not even telling the customer about it really seems like they just want to wear out their customer base. Lenovo has done so many of these same kinds of anti-consumer features in the last few years and in most cases, it made absolutely no sense. I genuinely don't get why they do such things and seem to not be learning from their mistakes whatsoever.
Every time I was searching for a laptop in the last few years at first glance, their products mostly looked good and worth buying to me but at the moment I have dug deeper Lenovo wasn't really an option anymore. I am very glad I never bought one of their products.
