  1. For wired backhaul, do they have to be connected to each other? Or can they all be connected from my ISPs modem or an unmanaged switch?

  2. I use an eero wifi mesh system with AT&T modem.

  3. my internet crashes every month

  4. Thanks for video! I use the TPLink DECO M5 at home. To avoid a network overload on the main wifi, does it make sense to have all IoT devices (lamps, switches, curtains) in the house on the router's guest network, and activate the main one for computers, cell phones and tablets?

  5. I had this Deco X20 for a week. You can NOT set the channels you want. It says you can have 150 devices but I had 50 devices on it and it really bogged down. I could only get 768 kbps WiFi on my phone. To reboot this Deco, you need to disconnect whatever you have plugged into back haul in order for it to finish rebooting. This defeats the option of rebooting from the app as you still have to get up to unplug the back haul.

If you like this and don't have to change channels like I do in a super congested WiFi area, good on ya. I got a Netgear Nighthawk X4S for 1/2 the price of this and got 4 Linksys routers from a pawn shop for pennies. I used them to create access points. Now I get 320 to 500 Mbps on my phone daily and I just got 860 Mbps on a Lenovo Ideapad 110 using 5 GHz WiFi & I only pay for 400 Mbps speed. I still get these speeds after having 72 smart devices on WiFi with no hub.

  6. Excellent video 👌

  7. Nevermind. You really are a gem.

  8. Unifi = 👑👑👑👑👑

  9. Using power line Ethernet to backhaul to my office. Works better than Wi-Fi backhaul.

  10. I really need to upgrade to a mesh network, I have gigabit internet and my laptop 2 rooms away gets 25/25

  11. Does the deco different from any tp link modem that has antenas?

  12. I really hope you do the next mesh video soon!

  13. tbh I dont see the difference between mesh and a wifi repeater

  14. Make an automation to call your kids down so they can be in a video!

  15. This is exactly the kind of video I was searching for – tells me the features I should look for when buying, and how to decide whether those features are important to me in my purchasing decision!

  16. also depends on your provider.

  17. Another top video 👍

  18. Hey Reed, Did you have any issues with your smartdry staying connected with the single SSID. mine would connect but within minutes disconnect.

  19. Will you review the EERO mesh system ?

    I thought my 200mbps was fast 😂

  20. I have a Netgear ac750 wifi booster I have my house set up with smart products like bulbs and switches around my house. What happens when 2.4 GHz keeps dropping or won’t connect tagging with my wifi. What can I do then?

  21. Exceptional detail tysm!

  22. After watching this, I ended up getting the Eeros 6 Pro. I got better speed via WiFi with no wired backhaul but I wanted more speed as I have a vast amount of smart home and WiFi devices. So I went back to look at my houses’ wiring (built in 2002) in the “central box” that has all the coaxial cables, alarm system wires and phone landline wiring. Turns out they used cat 5e for the phone lines! So all I had to do was figure out which line ran where (wire tracer $30 on Amazon) and then just re-wire the phone jacks to Ethernet jacks (used some punch down keystone jacks, super easy). WiFi backhaul ENABLED!!!!!! Amazing speed nowwwww!! Yeaaaaa!!!

  23. When the advanced video coming out looking forward to it

  24. Awesome channel as I try to convince my family to let me convert my bedroom and the office into smart rooms. What is that bat signal behind you and where can I find one?

  25. Smart home and WiFi 🤣

  26. I upgraded to a tp link recently but have been having issues of smart devices dropping… would it help getting virtual mesh? 🤔

  27. I’m loving your videosI love how you have put your wife and adorable little girls into your videos. Your production looks really good. Also, congratulations on your new home. It looks beautiful! Especially the living room space!

  28. Thank you for this. Ordered based on your review, arrived next day and installed. A world of difference. Setup up the X20 as a router and wi-fi then added two nodes.

  29. Your wife is a star for putting up with all your smart home shenanigans!

  30. Deco s4 is 129 for 3. Would recommend

  31. If i buy a homekit and amazon devices compatible can i use siri and alexa at the same time? My wife is siri fan and im a alexa fan. Can i use it all at once on different device.. gonna do a lutron eco. Tnx in advance

  32. Whoa! Whoa! WHOA! “Disable the WiFi on the router and put it in bridge mode?” Can you explain that loaded statement a little more in depth, please?!

  33. Yesssss Reed, more networking videos are always appreciated! If you don't have ethernet throughout your house do you know if using power line adapters for the wired backhaul would have the same or similar effect as hardwired ethernet?

  34. Can help with how to piggyback mesh wifi with outdoor access point. Like tplink or Google wifi

  35. Great video. I’m using the router from The ISP and I don’t have any issues with it.

  36. ah yes another one of those sponsored ads, tp link is trash go with eero if you want real preformance and security

  37. What software/app did you use at the end of your video to control all your smart devices? Thanks

  41. an alternative for most people who doesn't have ethernet ran all over the house, you can use your cable lines using a connection type called MOCA. 😀
