Comments

  1. Anyone using the Aqara Cube?! If so, what do you have it do?

  2. The sonof tx t12 is the only simple clean solution I've seen for those dual switches that use an outlet cover. Usually you find them in order bathrooms.

  3. Does anyone have z-wave gen7 and zigbee 3.0 dongles that work well with HA? I’m looking for ones that could help push firmware updates for my SmartThings and Aqara devices and my generic z-wave smoke and CO detectors. Thanks!

  4. That batman beacon… link plz

  5. Could you add a comment when reviewing if the device is still functional w/o being cloud connected strictly LOCAL network ONLY.

  6. If only "smart tech" worked with my college network. Something about the security settings

  7. Didn't see any info on using with Alexa. A bit surprised.

  8. what do you think about tuya?

  9. Hi for light switches, is it better to go wifi vs zigbee?

  10. Plugging audio (and video) equipment into a consumer power strip will significantly reduce sound quality. It's probably not a great idea to plug your active speakers into the strip, convenience aside.

  11. Have you any idea what the word 'unique' means?

  12. 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝 thank you

  13. What cheap physical button do you suggest to toggle homekit scenes? I also just set up homebridge with rasberry pi

  14. I love the little skits you do with your family, they're so cute! And of course, I love learning about smart home products.

  15. The Blink doorbell has the advantage of being able to trigger an Alexa routine. I have three of these now (and the USB hub which I got with a blink exterior camera).
If someone presses my front doorbell Alexa says "some donkey has pressed the front door bell". There's also one on my back door because it's not obvious which is my front door which is my back door because neither face the Street. If pressed Alexa says "someone is at the back door, shall I release the hounds?".
The third one is hidden from view and I used the button as an exterior smart home button to trigger the smart lights that lead up to my back step (for 5 minutes and then they turn off again). The blink doorbell is cheaper than a weatherproof outdoor smart button however this is single function so limited to 1 press. It is supposed to be a doorbell after all. On the plus side it also covers a small area of my my garden that my CCTV does not clearly cover.

  16. Lmao bro Paul's clip of the Shelly bulb will forever haunt me…

  17. Be on the look out for pole light switches (not rockers) ..I’ve been looking for them for a while and there’s only toggles or rockers 😔 doesn’t fit the aesthetic. The bummers have living in a hold out

My goal: hook up chandelier to be smart.

  18. Hi! I love your videos!! I’m starting to build a smart apt, and would love your help. I’m not as tecnological as you (I see you programming, which I can’t do). Do you have recomendarion for a sensor that will detect the temp of a room and (maybe through alexa?) let my electric heater to start running? (Central heating in my country is very expensieve, so we have electric heaters in every room).
Thanks in advance, and it’s ok if you don’t have a recomendation, or maybe it’s too long to answer 🙂

  19. Thank you for all these videos they help our family as well! And I bet you are a great dad 🙂

  20. Hey reed love your videos but I have to ask where do you get you raspberry pi s. Always have trouble finding them online.

  21. I have 14 Insteon light switches plus the hub and they just went under. System needs tweaking and I can't do that any more. What would you recommend for a new whole-house system that won't break the bank? Very disappointed I will have to swap everything out to make even a minor change. Thoughts? Anyone offering discounts for buying a dozen switches at once?

  22. How are you doing WiFi with all the Smart Devices? I seem to have drop Offs frequently as I have over 50 Devices.

  23. uhhh i just want to know about that bat signal lol

  24. Yeah, I saw that episode of Paul Hobert screwing in the bulb….sick, LOL!
