It's sad that consumers won't stand in solidarity but will continue to buy the latest flagship models at novel prices even though common sense should tell them they are getting shafted.
A large part of the basis for considerations between the N20U and S22U is the cognitive dissonance of Samsung's greedy marketing strategy of giving you less for more.
At the end of the day consumers shouldn't even have to be on the fence about paying a large chunk of the same initial overhead for the older model that is destined to reach EoL sooner just because it still has very necessary features like expandable storage and includes the charger.
With each new phone the price is always at a new record high as well, so why isn't there any collective outrage and protest that we should be getting what we pay for? I have the S9+ and it still works beautifully, except that it is now at the end of security patches.
I've been loyal to Samsung since I got my first phone in my teens, but I'm going to start looking into other Startups if I'm going to get the shit end of the stick anyways. The S22U should have had everything that is good about the N20U as a no-brainer, but consumers are the ones that are allowing this.

My issue with the note 20 is, it's not compatible with a whole lot of devices like interfaces for audio recording. Does the 22 accommodate this as a new feature like an iPhone?

You are missing all the point here. Note users would want to know about spen features differences. Note people doesn't care that much about Camera stuff. Experts are out of touch.

The main advantage of expandable memory is that if your phone dies, you don't lose any images or other files you saved to SD. Its also faster to transfer 20GB+ of data from the SD card thru a card reader and not thru hooking the phone up to the computer. The lack of a charger is Samsung's way to profit on you rather than give you a "value" by including it in the box. Don't fall for their "going green" BS. You will not have to source, pay and ship a 45W charger – and this is worse for all you tree huggers as it will mean more packages, boxes and everything else to get a second item to you. They also made the screen smaller on the S22 ultra, no one mentioned that and or did a comparison to it. The amount of memory (RAM) you get on board is also tied to the storage memory size. The 128GB models only have like 8GB of RAM for processing, while the 512 and above get 12GB of RAM. They also used a cheaper camera, a 3MP optical zoon down from a 5MP zoom is a down grade. My only reason to consider the Ultra is the value of my Note20 Ultra 5G is as high as it will ever be. Verizon is offering me $800 off the cost of the S22Ultra today, and this keeps me in a flagship phone for very cheap. I usually trade up every 2-3 years and only during these promotions. I always pay off the balance up front. So it's like getting a S22 Ultra for $500. Thru Verizon there's also no interest. I'm not sure I can pass that up, but it will suck if the phone goes bad or I lose any images. If they kept the SD card slot, 10MP camera and all the other upgraded things about the S22 Ultra then it would be an easier pill to swallow. Its a coin toss to potentially waste $500 for performance I can't notice or have to do tasks (backing up files) more often.
