2:58 took me by surprise, I really thought he was going to say half-bridge rectifier
Am I the only one who reads FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER with that punch?.
0:24 motherboard got changed for a cheaper one
I had my Seasonic Platinum PSU for 8 years. Recently it failed during gaming (a loud pop followed by instant power shut down), causing circuit breaker to skip. I unplugged the PSU from the power board and go outside to flip the circuit breaker switch back on. I then plugged this seemingly failed PSU back to power board and switched it on, causing another circuit trip. Being totally ignorant in electricity basics I repeated this for about 2 times. Will this fry the computer components ie. SSD, hard disk, CPU, motherboard? I couldn't smell anything burnt. Cheers
Is there some kind of fail-safe system that stops a failed PSU from transferring unfiltered power to the motherboard & other components?
Does the 5v standby also supply the bios when the pc is turned off ?

very high voltage DC is always better for transport, it's just the losses when it comes to converting it back to a lower voltage AC basically destroys the benefit of the more efficient transport. it's better now than in edison's time, but the primary reason AC won out is AC is just super easy and efficient to convert between high and low voltages. keep in mind this is the time before the transistor and DC-DC convertors were way inefficient. also note high voltage results in less transmission losses compared to low voltage. AC is less lossy at lower voltages(well we're talking kilovolts) but DC overtakes at some point on the even higher end.

I need more of these turbo nerd videos. Please.
i want a max 650 watts, power supply max efficiency……which one, hoe much energy bill will save me in 1 year…we talking gold…platinum…..power supplies, dont need more power, for a 3060ti, and a 5600 ryzen 5, thanks in advance
If computers run on 12v DC, why do they have need special cords to connect to a car charger?
So on the Furman power conditioner that I have, it has two sets of plugs, one is for high current, and the other is for linearly filtered. I am guessing that these two sets of plugs are attempting to sort out the current in a certain way as well?
full bridge rectalfier
My Corsair AX1200 sometimes works for 10 minutes, sometimes half an hour or more and then the computer shuts down. Then it doesn't turn on at all for hours.
After a few hours it start working again. What could be the problem
Literally studied this in high school physics very nice
These videos make me appreciate technology more
1988-vintage design! Bad divide-and-conquer design. Look at 2012-era Bridgeless PFC supplies. Lower cost, smaller size, higher efficiency, better power factor, less EMI, less ripple. Let's see a video on a supply that is NOT 25 years out of date.
Good hosting from Colin!
WHY DID YOU STOP WITH THESE TURBO NERD EDITION THEY ARE SO PERFECCTTTT
so I have a b550-f gaming motherboard, Ryzen 5 5600g 32gigs 4 sticks of ram at 3200mhz. 4 case fans. a sata ssd, and a 7200rpm hdd with a 650w psu. I just got a Gigabyte RTX 3070ti. everything was fine after the install, but I rebooted the pc today, and got some screen flicker. then I plugged in my ps4 controller, and the pc decided to reboot. is that because that 650w pau isn't enough?
3:07 just a moment before disaster 🤣
