At home I have a PC which has Ubuntu and Windows. I also have a windows tablet. And from my workplace I have a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip. The MacBook pro is a 2020 with an M1 chip. My desktop has an unlocked gen 7 intel corei7. My desktop easily outperforms the M1 chip both on windows and linux. My tablet is a gen 8 corei7 and it is on par with the Mac. However, the mac constantly freezes under process heavy operations while the tablet does not and the desktop just plows through the tasks. Furthermore, I can easily connect both my tablet and my desktop to 2 monitors without any problems at all. In my opinion, until it goes through some upgrades and they fix its shortcomings, which I don't think they will, the M1 chips are a major backwards move and a waste of hard earned money.
Macs are "poorly" designed to have limited lifespan, so you will be forced to buy another Mac sooner rather than later. Coincidence? Apple's decisions to almost always provide insufficient cooling reflect this, so if you must buy a Mac, buying a lower level device which will produce less heat due to its less powerful processor is the best solution: e.g., all in one Macs are particularly stupid buys. I had someone that I know try to sell me an all-in-one whose gorgeous, outrageously expensive screen turned off after a little time of being on because it was overheating. I established that by pointing a powerful fan at the side of the thing's display, so it would keep it cool. Then, it stayed on longer, but who wants to work with a computer that needs a noisy, powerful fan blowing your hair sideways as it cools the all-in-one Mac. At any rate, the display would turn off after a longer time.
It's fun to imagine what Apple could do if they weren't such a piece of shit anti consumer company

I appreciate you giving Apple a fair shake, but really….it's an Apple. Those of you who haven't been around for this stuff Apple pulls, Motorola, PowerPC, x86/64, M1. This is nothing about performance but for selling new products to existing customers. They rarely convert new customers. The questions is why? Why isn't Apple in a data center? Why doesn't even Adobe recommend Apple for Premier? So what are you going to do with all this "power" of the M1? Let's load up Steam and see what games ….oh erm eh. Let's ask the accounting department, or the devs when we should get them their new Macs, oh wait whaa. Talking about Apple is just as pointless as talking about Trump….and the people are cut from the same cloth. Blind lemmings. Anthony you rock and I appreciate your integrity in reporting. Apple isn't a premium brand or innovative, they are the Ford, the Walmart, the brand that brought tech to the ignorant. Don't be fooled.

Gpu sure is impressive but can’t say it’s better than 3090, depends on compatibility and how that thing works. But its sure to be great for media work but those people really like some customisation options. They won’t care for price, they just need to be able to work with their software with a hitch.

Do people realize how big of a DISAPPOINTMENT the M1 Ultra is? It has the "power" seeing Geekbench, but none of apple apps are being utilized a month after release. I ordered my ultra and the shipping date keeps pushing back everyday. I just know a group of people at apple are PANICING! 😂

imagine how much dust this thing will have inside and the fact that you cannot clean it alone, i rather buy nornal PC
