Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
i still have my lenovo z40-75 with hdd 1tb dual boot system (it was three, but it got damaged recently)…perhaps my next laptop will have 1 ssd and 1 hdd, i dont see saying good bye to hdds so soon….though i have a external hdd, so maybe 2 ssd would be nice
Conclusion:if u are on a lower budget or just work get a HD. It also offerS more memory on the range of money that you want to pay for it.
2nd Conclusion if u are gaming and have a bit more money get a SSD.
3rd coclusion:Get both
I am a bout to get my first 100% SSD computer after having been stuck with a mechanical drive laptop for teh past 4 years. The new machine has only 512Go of storage out of the box, but I plan to install an extra M.2 SSD for 1 or 2To of storage.
ok but does having a hard drive in a system slow down the overall performance? ssds are pretty cheap now I wouldnt mind having one for data drive too. but now i still have 2 mechanical drives for data
Still need them if you deal with lots of media. Until 4 tb SSD's are available at as low as $30, I'm buying HDD's.
Dec 2022: The last stand… hard drives for file archival – I'll take all of your obsoleted platters at a deep discount – please and thank you. 🙂
Hey, I am old enough that when I was a child there were no SSDs at all. I am in my 40s and so you can imagine all of the computer tech that did not exist yet when I was born. Some of the computers back then didn't have 100 MB or more hard drive space. Back then terabyte hard drives were unheard of and were still a thing of science fiction.
I've a 240gb m.2. nvme for windows and basic applications and a 2tb sata ssd for bulk storage and gaming. Unfortunately since my laptop only came with 1 nvme slot and one sata slot, that's the best I can do considering value for money.
Is it wise to have a $90 WD1TB SSD and a 4 TB BARRACUDA its $67
Ssd’s are quite expensive though. And no one cares… if used as bulk storage and not non stop used drives then they’re the best option. In fact both should be used in everyone’s computer.
im using a 120Gb kingston ssd no dram for just linux mint, bad idia host home in this drive
I use only SSDs and NVMe drives for years already. But just got a few HDDs for a NAS build that will mostly store the backups.
Sure, maybe SSDs are getting cheaper….. but the media is making me consider 4TB hard drives.
Good luck finding a 2 tb ssd for $50 tho
The place where there is more ADDS to sell Shit than review Tech …..
ssd? I only use nvme…
I haven’t had a spinning hard drive in my pc in many years. My current pc uses nothing but NVMe drives. The speed and the form factor of NVMe is unbeatable and now they’re priced nearly the same as 2.5” sata drives.
just bought new 2TB HDD bc my last one was just 500gb and was already dying, i have my windows on SSD but i need games and movies and everything else to storage somewhere so i got the 2TB and i really like it.
There's no point in keeping Media particularly videos on SSD-s. And that's the biggest thing that takes up space on a drive.
And HDD love few files, big files. SSD-s do much better with small files, lots of small files.
So yeah. Unless you plan to keep downloading and deleting every time you want to watcha show or a movie, you do need a big enough HDD. 2 Tb HDD is about the cost of 1 Tb SSD. Half the speed but double the performance. So it's worth it, for cases where you don't need that extra speed.
YES.
I have a 1tb 7200rpm drives from 2015. I have two more data ports. I plan on getting another.
Can you make a video about SSD for video ? Let me explain, while on paper a samsung T7 is quicker than a T5, you can't use a T7 on a blackmagic video assist, because the T5 streams continuous, the T7 doesn't… i can't find a nice video about this problem… T5 are getting hard to find for a good price… but the T7 is an inferior product for filming…
Going to the gym is worth it bro, I'm not bullying you, I love you and I wanna see you do well, go to the f gym
It would be 'worth it' to check your blood sugar and go on a diet, fatty.
are HDD's still better than SSD's for long term storage?
5:54 "And thanks to modern wear leveling techniques, they last longer too"
Says who? SSDs still don't last as long as HDDs even with all of the improvements to its lifespan so far. They typically last only 5 years, with the theoretical potential to last about 10 years. HDDs can last 20 years and possibly more than that. That being said, I'm surprised this video doesn't mention data recovery and drive failures. An HDD typically gives pretty obvious signals that the drive is failing, and because HDDs are so well-understood, data recovery is very possible from an HDD. SSDs, on the other hand, can fail suddenly, and data recovery is difficult to accomplish on an SSD
I bought a bunch of SSD's to upgrade some of my own and my family's computers, and the old HDD's are still good enough for me to cheap into an almost free NAS
20 years later, "did ssd still worth it, when you CPU already integrated with 2PB storage.
The ads in this video are record breaking.
Kind of if you aren’t a competitive player or you don’t got no patience I’m both so I have ssd
I tried playing Forza Horizon 5 off of an HDD on my laptop. The GPU and CPU were barely touched, but the game.. didn't as much studders as it did literally not move for seconds at a time. Unplayable
Hi Anthony, thanks for the video. As I was searching for information on external drives was glad to see you as a choice. I like you and how you present information.
