Just bought a 3060 I figure while cards are priced the way they are I’ll stay a series behind and pick up the 4080 when the 50 series drops having the absolute newest just doesn’t seem necessary to me.

Got a 6800xt asus oc edition with a waterblock on it, running 2700mhz and game 4k at 95-144 frames. And It is Awesome!
ive been about 3 years behind he curve for 20 years but my perforance curve is still the same of course, relatively. So my typical price is 2-300 quid for a noticeable upgrade. . Have literally only just gone 144 refresh and ulrawide. Im actually shocked that they price them as 1000 quid and people pay it in enough quantities for them to do so

Undervolting your gpu is much better and its also easy. runs cooler, quieter, uses less power and you still get more fps. you just have to overclock the meomory

I wouldn't say they are scams yet, but they are kind of sus. Like if the 4060 comes out, goes for $600 and has gigantic, bedazzled 3 fan shrouds looking like a 3090ti, then I would change my mind. Motherboards are going in the same direction, sadly. It's like, can I get a AM5 motherboard that I don't feel ashamed to put a 6-core cpu in, please?

games are starting to run better with older equipment like my rtx 2080 is still running like a dream, and starting to get more frames in games thanks to DLSS updates. I could run 4k if I wanted to but I stick to 1440p. these new cards are honestly too overkill I doubt we would need that amount of wattage to run future games when the engines are just so much more efficient now and getting even better. there are smarter ways to spend money but if you're just trying to flex do you lol

''special OC gaming labeled gpus'' that cost like 100-200bucks more are quite pointless because 1-2 degrees less and 2-3fps more at best is not worth 100-200 bucks.
super fancy gaming mainboards are also almost pointless for 99% of the users who just wants a nice homeuser pc and play some games. Does it matter how many pcie lanes i have for a normal person? No, do overclocking features matter for 99% of the people? no…especially since cpu overclocking is kinda pointless since games limit on gpu before anyways. is a better onboard audio chip important for 99% of the people?.. well no. i can buy a cheap usb c dongle from fiio for less than the mainboard upgrade would cost me so i can get better audio on my pc and my phone externally anyways.
Do super fast pcie 4.0 m.2 s matter for 99% of the people? NO… they are utterly pointless. The only usecase a fast m.2 can do its job with its sequential write read is if you send around big amounts of data constantly… like video editing for example… most people are no video editiors. and for games.. you use random write and reads and in that regard theres no benefit to an m.2 over a sata ssd whatsoever.
And now imagine you build your pc with a ''do i actually need that?'' mentality… all of a sudden youre saving like 300 400 500 bucks on fancy gimmicks you can actually buy an entire new tier of gpu for…
