I use Lutris for gaming on Linux Mint 21.1. Lutris is a wine front end that connects with Steam, GOG, Epic, and all the others, it's very slick and works great. I'm playing Dishonored from GOG right now, and it runs flawless.
anti cheat is a problem but proton exists so this shouldn't be a problem
6:55 anti-China xd
I've been running Manjaro for three years with a 6600K then a 6600X(I know lol) paired with a RX480 then a 6700XT.
I used to dual boot but I don't even care to anymore since performance are more or less on par (or deemed acceptable now that I have no comparison basis anymore) for basically any single game out the 50~ish I play every year (including trickier things like Tarkov, Star Citizen or games running annoying anti-cheats/mods).
And as a sound engineer, Linux has also proven way more accessible and effective for managing loads of physical and virtual audio or midi I/O's, even when it came down to running apps through wine…
I tend to believe that the difficulty people imagine in Linux is nothing more complex nor inaccessible than Windows is for any person with any kind of computer needs that goes beyond web browsing, media playing, office-like work or casual gaming, but in that case, both modern user-friendly GNU/Linux and Windows can hopefully do it flawlessly.
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y
apt-get install wine
apt-get install winetricks64
apt-get install zip.dll
reboot
I like the added joke of "games that have anti cheat" then bringing up apex
great video! thanks for covering this topic!

11:25 Dopamine for the win! Go science, go! It's the only currency because all currency gets converted to dopamine 🙂
Thank you for covering linux gaming on your channel. It's given more users reasons to switch to linux and know what to expect. This may sound far-fetched, but I believe one day Windows will move to using linux as its base.
Please retry, something changed!
Wow. Of course, gaming on Linux can suck. Gaming on Windows can suck as well. In Windows i get 0 support – they usually recommend buying someing of their stock – which usually also don't work. I have tried windows for some games and i got 0 response from their devs. Wanna play a game and it doesn'tg work? The dev-team respons with a "laugh" emote and keeps it beeing.
I hope the day comes before end of win10 support 😅
You seem to be criticizing the wrong people. The problem is not Linux it is the GAMER DEVELOPERS to are too lazy or do not want to develop code to run on Linux. For the developers greed is primary (Windows environment) to open source OS.
IIRC, several GoG games plays natively on Steam.
RUNESCAPE YES BOIS!
This channel is garbage if you're Gonna say that Linux is not ready
Before I even watch this, did you do any simple research beforehand and do you already know that multiplayer games with anti-cheat don't work worth a shit in Linux? Or are you just going to make ALL gaming on Linux look horrible? Let's find out. 10:50 Again, convenience = less security and privacy. We are too willing to give up our privacy now days for the sake of convenience. This is something Linux users understand. 13:42 Umm, maybe that is because Steam/Valve is the one developing it and it is being developed for their software and not other software? 15:50 And it never will be because developers don't care about Linux because the user base is smaller than the other major OSs that are proprietary. It is about profit. Kind of a catch 22. People don't use Linux due to not being able to play some major games>developers don't make games for Linux because people don't use it enough for them to profit. The thing with switching to Linux is it will depend on what you do on your computer, WHY you are switching (for me, privacy and security), and how much you prioritize convenience over privacy and using open source software.
This feels like drake & josh
This is why most people duel boot with Windows because not everything works on Linux
For the low cost of a windows license why the heck would you bother trying to game on linux.
After watching whole series, Im left with one Question: how would the outcome be, if one of you used an AMD Card?
Lots of serious problems seems relate to nvidia
if you're a gamer, don't be afraid to dualboot windows just for that. That's how i do it. on laptops where gaming is a pain anyway, just stay on linux.
People buy Windows because it's better. Linux is free but that's all it has going for it. Linux has far too many versions because everyone wants to make their own version instead of all working together on one package. It's never going to work well enough for most consumers. Why would a game dev waste so much money with Linux versions when there is simply noy way to recover that investment.
I have trying to switch to linux since more than 15 years and it is sadly to say that linux will never be ready, problem with it is that only the kernel is being developed as a managed project but the rest of the environment is not and worst every distro change something only for custom desires not for functionality.
something as basic as an audio equalizer is badly or eve absent when in windows (puke) i have equalizer apo that allows me to get incredible audio even from cheap speakers.
Anti-cheat aka malware injections. I tease, I'm happy you gave it good ol college try. I still prefer Linux over Windows. I enjoy FreeBSD even more but that's where I start to run into a million issues. I use AMD so this may give me the advantage.
Did anyone else catch his bird tweeting?🤣
