Between scalpers and cryptocurrency miners, its been really tough to buy a graphics card. But soon, we could see a flood of used mining GPUs hitting the market- possibly at some pretty attractive prices. But should you buy a second hand GPU that’s been used for crypto mining?

Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
The only reason I'm even considering ex mining GPUs is because I can't find the new ones in stock anywhere… if the manufacturers could keep up with demand they wouldn't have to worry
Just don't buy mining cards in general. Don't allow the pieces of shit to make back part of their investment
Just buy 3060 for 200$ thx miners
need flash bios. miner bios not good for gamer
I bought a miner card. 3070 for 300 euro. Guy keept his cards in an underground cellar where it s like 10 degree in summer.. so yeah
There's also videos of people spraying the gpus with a water hose. Might not be good lol
for the future, as an idea atleast you should run lets say timespy or something and compare the benchmark points, because clocks itself are not actual performance imo
I hope miners never get to sell their gpus
Just bought a 3070ti from a miner for $410 USD about $100 off similar cards on the website with 6 months of usage and not any dust in photos should be receiving it later this week ill update!
This was fascinating. With the 4000 series so overpriced, I've been looking at used 3090s for a decent upgrade. There are 3090s going for almost half the price of a 4080s. So kinda feels like a no-brainer.
I love to ask them, if they could give me an RTX 3090 for 100 bucks tough. I don't need it. But I love to taste these crypto tears.
Come on Linus do a new video on this just as the crash is happening!!!
This video: mining cards are catually metter then gaming cards
Every other video you make in the future about buying used gpus: here how you make sure you don't buy a card used for mining.
To me it's not about the new or old, i just don't want to give money to scalpers or any exminers.
Damn, my 3080 is already 2 years old? …. time moves too fast.
I am probably one of those who kills stuff too fast, I just toss everything into the chassis, screw cable management and whether the water cooler logo is upside down. The SSDs are hanging and everything looks a mess, Linus would slap me silly ….. but I am lazy and the PC works fine … for now 😀
I hope someday i have gpu like this so i can play pubg steam. Anyway, thanks for explanation.
just bougth a 6800xt for 500€ on ebay from a well known and rated seller. nearly 1 year spend mining . card looks mint, not a spec of dust. seemed like a no brainer to me
Bought a 3080 for $600 "USED-LIKE NEW" from a seller with miner in their name. We shall see if the gamble pays off.
Hi, I do have bought a old GPU (1 year) from a miner. 1660 to be exact. And it's working perfectly. Thanks to that video I spend only 150€ on that GPU. Thank you Linus!
Who's gonna tell him that you can't mine dodge coin through GPU
the reason buyers usually get malfunction cards from miners because from the beginning miners hoarded more cards than normal users, so whenever crypto market crashes, the buyers unluckily get to buy these malfunction ones in the sea of normal working cards, and you know whenever people go to restaurants, they mostly leave bad reviews when they didnt get what they paid for but they remain silence and enjoy themselves when they get something. If the miners and cryptomining not exist, buyers buy broken cards from random gamers, 3D renderers, etc…then they can not target specifically any group of people because they're themselves gamers or 3D designers,…
Bottom line is like anything you buy online, if you take care of your stuff then it has a second use for someone else.
I had a MSI RX 580 that I got second hand from a miner and it failed within 2 weeks 🤷♂
Linus tank tips
performance maybe the same But how about the lifespan
GPU prices a cake now!
Imagine making life so good for miners that, after they hogged all the GPUs and rake in big income from them at everybody else's expense (shortage and subsequent massive market inflation), you then rescue them from the sudden sinkhole of a crypto crash that they fell into by buying their mostly spent leftovers, like vultures feeding off a carcass left behind by lions, except the vultures have to pay the lions first before they can gorge on the leftovers. Yikes! 🤦
Also gonna add, I've had my 2070 super since release since I got a good deal a month after on a used one. There has not been any drops in performance at all.
Just bought a 3090 that was used for mining for half of the price. Still got 3 years warranty left. My only concern is that previous owner cleaned the cooler with conducting spray. Now it looks shiny everywhere. And smells like wd40 But it's working great.
This video aged well.
This comment section is filled with fuckin bots literally everyones nickname is 'someweirdshit' and 3-4 random numbers wtf?
How do you know it's been in mining
I'm glad I can buy a good used GPU for a simple gamer PC I'm building because I can not afford expensive items.
Okay, now crypto is crash
its time to buy used GPU haha
1. Mining GPUs are typically undervolted 2. They are on 24/7 for the most part and don't typically thermal cycle. As long as they're cared for and aren't dusty as heck and moderately taken care of it's fine.
Funniest intro ever x) ♻
Well this aged well like fine wine.
