  1. The passive cooling heatsink would most likely work much better if it was mounted horizontal to the chassis, since the fins didn’t allow airflow to pass through the fins in this configuration.
I’m surprised you didn’t think of that

  2. Strong gasoline fight vibes

As chips get more powerful and need more room for cooling, i could see CPUs installed on the back becoming the standard

  3. I see an opportunity for a pc with a waterfall flowing through the external air-cooler.

Did entec go under or something? Couldn't find their site via Google and the link in the description is for an inactive domain.

  4. funny how a water cooler is a air cooled water cooler but an air cooler is just an air cooled air cooler

  5. Excited for the daily driver version

  6. nice throw!

  7. i wish youd revisit this idea and build an eclosure for a standard tower cooler to be water cooled with pumps and whatnot.

  8. This is actually really cool (get it? 🤔). I wouldn't mind seeing this as an option someday for enthusiasts (the backwards cooling install)…☺

  9. That heatsink might be 90 degree off. The fins are better vertical.

  10. I've always thought it would be cool (no pun intended) to run a water cooling setup with the radiator inside a little under-desk fridge.
This board is filling my head with a combo pc case that has a fridge on the back side. Keeping your gaming rig and your cold snacks chilled at the same time.

  11. This was so incredibly stupid. Not the idea itself, but handling the PC with an inbuilt PSU above a big bucket of water and without rubber clothes.

  12. I just switch from a 6700k to a 13600k and the difference is pretty spectacular.

  13. 6:45 .. the thing even has eyes!

  14. Well at least now i know that my case is fit to cool a totally normal backwards cpu with a bucket of tap water. The more you know!

  15. Dude 🎉 heat pipe’s definitely help keep comp cool

  16. Fr😂

  17. Try putting dry ice on it and send it lol

  18. frozen bottles of water would been great because reusable. would be interesting to mod air coolers to add water cooling with copper pipes.

  19. Actually, the hoter part should be at the lowest heat has the intend to climb

That’s the same ice Tipsy Bartender use 😅

  20. The heat pipes are upside down, you're leaving a lot of performance on the table, heat rises!

  21. You should come back to this idea but dump it in some liquid nitrogen 😂😂

  22. ikay

  23. Oh yes, this is next gen baby!

  24. Right so… I was sad to see that you didn't just freeze the cooler in to a block of ice.

  25. I need that heatsink for my new gpu.

  26. …. Liquid nitrogen….

    it's just easier using oil

  27. The most interesting aspect that linus never mentioned was the complete lack of ANY exposed solder holes or pins on the "front" (aka dust facing) side of the board. This thing is both extremely well engineered and manufactured where it matters but also kinda "eh fuck it" where it doesn't, such as the silk screening, lack of a button cell, and the "fits most cases, some may require modification." They know anyone who is buying this knows exactly what they want and need and aren't afraid to modify a case to make it work.

Also should have added salt to the water. I've seen piped brine solution cooling systems for "no allowable vibration" scientific instruments. They can't use traditional watercooling because the turbulent flow causes vibration so they literally pump chilled brine (usually to many components) similar to this where the heatsinks are 90/10 + 1.5% CuNiFe.

  28. This is why i pay for internet

  29. Linus- "He threw it at my head!" also Linus- "This is a very 'Wimpy' Heat sink…"

    Wimpy heat sink for wimps

  30. Or just use a HEPA filter? Lol

  31. This honestly makes way more sense. Why put the cpu in a cabinet and then scramble trying to get air into the cabinet? Why not have the cpu and gpu in their own air "channels" for individual cooling.

  32. I wonder if petrol in a car will make it move?

  33. I got something for you:

Cool a water-cooler with cold high pressure Air

  34. Translation: What happens when we run out of ideas?

  35. I would like to design a Refrigeration system that is using glycol to cool down the processor

  36. 10:29 I can't even describe the level of discomfort I felt while seeing two huge buckets of water THAT close to a PC while also knowing what's gonna happen next. 😐

  37. Pls dont make Money with YouTube "i need Just an AdBlock"

  38. "You're not getting on the table."

    Gets on the table

    Chad.

  39. Imagine water cooling with an actual block on the back of your case. It's such a sleeper that you can't even see the CPU.

  40. Put the giant heatsink underwater.

  41. for anyone who don't know how to use a bag of ice:

step 1: slam the bag of ice on the ground (preferably at chest lvl and on a concrete floor, this will loosen up the ice into smaller chunks)

step 2: open the bag and pour out your ice..

step 3 (optional): pour ice into the cooler box and add a bag of salt (about 1/4LBS of salt will do per bag of ice, this will turn some of the ice into super cold water and this is super useful for cooling cans and bottled beverages/water super fast)

  42. What happens if you use 2% of your brain lol
