The glossy version of the Eve Spectrum 4K gaming monitor showed up and we had to find out not only which one we like more, but if this company has improved at all since the last product we got. Considering they changed their name to Dough before we could publish and some of the issues we had, maybe not so much…

Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
Regardless of Eve changing their name to "Dough" I would like to reiterate that no one should put any money into that company. I pre-ordered one of their 1440p240hz panels like 2 years ago (got refunded thankfully!) But they still haven't started shipping any of them! They started taking pre-ordered 3.5years ago for those!
Meanwhile they went "here's a glossy screen does anyone want?".
"Reflexions are bad and annoying I guess?" How long you been at this Linus? Did we forget the past already? Seems we did but today..today were like dumb we don't know.
To make such a big deal about this. Yeah thanks we all know Glossy makes things pop and matte kinda dulls it. Allot of people and gamers as you know over the years like matte then many people like glossy. Its the way its always been. But yeah we have the internet in our hands lets play dumb
I fully believed in the Eve proposition back in the day and dropped a non-insignificant amount of cash on a loaded i7 EVE V. Sadly, although I was one of the lucky ones and after a ridiculous delay eventually received one of the first 500 units, I've been left very disappointed. The unit is not perfect, and my keyboard died a long time ago. The problem with small batch manufacturers is the total lack of spare parts inventory, an issue I wouldn't have if I had just bought a Surface. I'm still using the tablet for travel, but with a 3rd party keyboard. It's such a shame, my name is even stamped on the inside of the packaging as I took part in the decision-making along the way. They will never get rid of their history of taking people's money and not delivering. I could never part money with this company again, and sadly recommend that others do not either. They will rebrand, and disappear at the drop of a hat – claiming that EVE/Dough that you bought from, is a different legal entity to who they are today. Warranty with them is worth nothing.
My experience with glossy laptops is that I hate glossy screens. Matte is better in general. <1% better colors from glossy is just not worth it.
It was all nice and dandy, but if you can't get a ship date, non of that matters…
I was tempted to order one of them last November, if I did, I probably still waiting for that monitor…
Monitors used to mostly use glossy then they all went matte wich tbh i like as it prevents reflection now i've just ordered an Alienware AW3423DW wich has a glossy display so i guess i'll see just how much of an issue the glossy screen is for reflections these days. I will add though my old Acer 1080p glossy monitor had an incredible image it's been a good few years since i had it so i can't remember the model but the picture quality was unreal i only upgraded for higher refresh rates, bigger display and 1440p wich was a big jump in performance.
11:43 Why a concrete update? So that they can bury it forever?
Reminds me of the mobster. He also got a concrete update before his swim lessons.
i hate this company so much raised the monitor price $200 within a year would've bought before
these are not $800. they're like $949 and $1099.
how does the glossy compare to that 32" samsung 4k 240hz monitor?
glossy screens may look slightly better but damn its impossible to have any lightsource on your desk without it making your screen invisible. yes i could turn the brightness up but i also dont want a flashlight pointing into my eyes.
also who likes to see their own reflection when the screen goes dark?
Matt monitors are disgusting
I’ve always hated matte screens. So grainy and washed out.
I ordered and paid for the matte version back in October 2020 and I'm still waiting! Atrocious company.
The only issue with this monitor is the size. 27' is way too small, the second they pre release a 32' or 34' im instantly giving them my money
I placed an order for a Eve Spectrum QHD monitor back in January of 2021. Eve emailed me in July to get the remaining balance. Paid an additional $565 in July 2022. Then I get an email about the company name change and can no longer pull up my order details. Oh… and I can't pull up their website at all.
…are you f'in serious?
YES!! Glossy screen please.
This ticks so many boxes but mostly love that its a nice simple clean design with slim bezels and most importantly no silly angular plastic add on nonsense that almost all gaming stuff seems to insist on having, just a shame i'd never risk giving them my money after all the issues, just have to hope it influences the others brands.
A little late to this video, but I'm one of the lucky Eve (dough) customers it seems. I preordered relatively early and got my 4K 144hz matte monitor from them about 6 months after the initial preorder. They did mess up the shipping and sent the stand as a separate shipment, but I've had no major issues since. Firmware updates have fixed small issues that came up like screen blinking for VRR, or not seeing my MacBook correctly on certain display connections. This has been a great gaming/work monitor and I don't have much to say that is bad about the actual product. But I do see just haw crappy many customer experiences have been and definitely agree with the sentiment of taking you business elsewhere. Since this monitor has launched there have been other monitors for more reliable companies that have most if not all the same features. IMO go with something from LG and call it a day.
Eve/Dough is a scam and a scheme and they are criminals.
They are charging tf out the monitor almost 2k for the 1440p 280hz monitor? Seriously when it was eve it was maybe 800$ to ship to the u.s and I would say I have bought the 4k 144hz from them and got it and works well but dude
I pre-ordered one before the Xbox series X come out I tried to get my refund back. I’have had no luck up until this point they are a bunch of crooks can anyone help
It seems insane that this isn’t the norm to me, a 27” 4k display, glossy, oled ideally, without the garbage gamer design, it’s all so obvious
I'm sorry you had to review a product from a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. Advice to others, don't buy it.
why can't a mainstream manufacturer make a glossy monitor this feature complete with a minimal design?? the only reason i havent bought this is bc of how unreliable Dough is
I just can't stand gloss. Is not like I've never used one. Yeah I have a glossy phone and not a fan of seeing my face there mixed with the image.
So glad I dodged the bullet. I pre-ordered this monitor back in 2020, asked for a refund once I smelled a scam brewing and surprisingly got my money back months after. Stay away from this company. There are many who still have not received their monitors or their refunds. I don't understand why there isn't more exposure on how bad this company is.
Linus, since Dough is likely be around for a while, you might want some context: the CEO is gone now. As in, the one that promised no more issues? He's working in distribution as of over a year ago. EVE was bought by an investor. Entirely new management structure, and they're not as interested in being "good" as the founders were. I honestly believe the CEO and partner would have done right- they were genuinely good people – but I have no faith in the new ownership. At all. Not yet, anyway.
