As an engineer, this is my favorite video of yours. I truly felt all that pain and was yelling at the tv and felt validated on my frustrations. Shoutout that Jasco rectified the issue. Shoutout to y’all for pushing this vid out and holding problems accountable.
There is not only jasco having these issues and also making a big thing about their firmware like it is some big company secret code to their bank accounts. And honestly I dont see why you did not go for a better solution when you know there is several. Maybe some money to save, but hey the system you make is not a cheap one from the start right? Anyhow, they don't work as intended so get your money back asap, then decide which way you go with your automatic lighting solution.
vacancy mode sounds like you're on holiday and you're using home automation to pretend there's someone home to deter thieves.

Wonder on how long having lights on a smart system would take to pay itself off from electrical bills. Especially when in a home that size cost $10,000 like they said in the video for the smart switches. Compared to just having normal on and off switches relying on people turning them.
I like TP-Link, works locally with Home Asssssistant. The motion sensors don't seem to let HA see light levels, so that's my only gripe.

I have a sensor in my hallway set to turn my hallway light on very dim for 3 seconds after 11 pm, so if I need the loo at night, I won't be blinded, lol. It also turns on when I come home after a certain time or turns everything off in my home when I leave.
Vacancy/Absence mode usually means it is switched on manually (using a push-button switch), but when the sensor detects "vacancy" it switches the lights off automatically.
This is like dealing with Samsung customer service
Lesson learned: just use Lutron.
The number one recommendation that I have is to only buy one or two devices from a single Manufacturer initially, and then test them out for a Month or two before going all in on them. It will help to limit your frustration to couple of devices when you are troubleshooting things and if you still are not able address all the issues, you are not out a lot of money/time if you need to switch out those devices.
This is so relatable, not like ive had similiar problems with motion sensors for lights in my house or anything.
