The Porsche Taycan 4S is an electric car made by a manufacturer who has a history of making cars, but its pricing can go up to $160,000 so you could expect or think it’ll be almost perfect. Here are my thoughts.

Note: A couple of days ago Porsche announced an over-the-air update to their infotainment that includes adding Android Auto to the Taycan. The Taycan already had some of this system in place so it's unclear how many of our gripes will be addressed when it arrives.
Also we are aware that the Model S Plaid is price comparable to this. It wasn't shipping when we reviewed this car and we can only do one car at a time. We'll be happy to check out the Plaid when/if we can. Porsche made it easier by offering short-term rentals.
Whos here after he bought this car a year later?
One of the biggest drawbacks is the lack of charging facilities. Yes, 300 mile range is excellent…except when at 20% power and the last two EA charger stations are off line. Tesla got it right with the superlative supercharger network. Except Tesla cars are RC toys. And shabbily built RC cars at that.

Good news they have updated some of the internal systems just got a new porche taycan and most of the problems have been fixed
DUDE I sooo agree with you on the infotainment BS.
My car (2020, buttons, perfect) is being repaired from a rudolph encounter and they put me in a 2022 Durango and I have A LOT to say about tech and what it should be. You can't even use the brights! It'll randomly slam on the brakes and with the climate control thing you mention here-i haven't seen a post 2020 car with controls half as good as literally every car before it.
Do NOT even get me started on android auto oh my F ing… no.

Even as a tech guy, I absolutely despise the touchscreen bullshit all cars, especially today's cars are moving to. I daily a early 2000s car, and have driven several brand new cars. It almost hillarious how stupid and inefficient all these touch screen interfaces are. Laggy, unresponsive, impossible to get "muscle memory" for..
For comparison, I drove a 2022 Kia with a passenger. That car actually has physical ACC, which is great, but for the infotainment? Nah..
The KIA audio connect went down like this. I handed my phone to my passenger, who proceeded to try to connect. "You need to be parked". Oh… FFS. So now I'm distracted and have to focus on finding a place to stop, by the roadside.. "Connected". Perfect, lets go. 1km away, it somehow disconnected, and I now need to do the same bullshit all over again.. I was NOT a safe driver at this point..
Then I went back to my car from 2003 with AUX. I hand my phone to my passenger. He plugs in a usb-c cable. I press ONE button, and its working perfectly. I never had to take my eyes of the road, or even think about what I was doing, because I know exactly where the button is. PERFECT.
Compare to Audi RS e-tron GT ?

The only downside to any electric car is they so expensive for such low range…and the range hasn't really changed of any car since bout the early 90s if driven right
