Deals for Days. Big home savings are happening now.
Just a small clarification about the SMB Multichannel settings. We asked the TrueNAS folks about it, and they explained that in the current version of SMB/samba in TrueNAS core, SMB Multichannel is still considered "experimental" and is therefore not a recommended configuration. The Linux version of TrueNAS, "Scale", should support SMB Multichannel by default once it matures into a stable release.
Nice to see Edzel Yago is still around. I remember him from a few hardware test type videos.
Good Leader, making professionals with experience
A guy named LINUS took this long to realize that LINUX was a better fit for this application??
Bruh, the way you said Debian (dee-bee-in) hurt my soul. It's… it's pronounced "debby-in".
What’s funny i noticed my Truenas server is also using just 2-4 threads of my threadripper 1900 i didn’t know you can change the cpu usage
I am using 256 GB ssd. But when linus says 72 TB , it sounds too small 😅
Windows? What the fuck were you smoking?
Cablemod couldnt mod my cables without fucking it up.
For gods sake someone explain to me why the hell i am watching this i dont even have a laptop
Next time, do not wait 10 years to go Truenas on storage 🙂
and then theres me with a server with a i3-530 lmao (2 cores :sob:)
You could hangout in the back of a Mcdonalds do every job in a week. I'd need like 10-15 years with these guys
im not capping, that server is somehow quieter than my PC at home…
Linus never does linux right. I glad he didn't go with debian.
Only in Canada you wear mask indoors
They are too polite to tell you the problem is a short between the chair and the keyboard. LMAO on using the FreeBSD version on AMD.
Who told you to go with windows in the first place when it come to big data server storage etc. Windows is for GUI common people.
Linus randomly powering off running server, pulling the plug just to be the first to turn it back on
"I don't know why but TrueNAS always had problems when I used it"
1:13 Nothing is ever easy when before starting, you say 'this should be easy'
reading the TrueNAS forum posts about this video. All the experts hate it!
The fact that linus missed the chance to say, "You won't believe how much gigabytes you can put in this GIGABYTE" at 8:47 is beyond me.
i enjoy the server videos a ton like some of the other viewers. not a storage or networking geek but i love seeing that side of the operation
We'll start off by droping the server…
I pulled a muscle in my neck when the server started to fall
Are Jake and Sarah a couple? I thought Arlo was Sarah's cat? 🤔
Nice, linux is efficient then windows
really job!
Why does Linus always look so uncomfortable in the thumbnails of Linux videos? His face looks like mine if I was forced to daily drive a locked down proprietary OS like Mac OS. This is video is about servers of course your going to use a real OS like Linux. Even Bill Gate knew Windows server was a joke.
Linus you should make a video on making a networking setup for your home. Something not too crazy (10GBE is nutz) but also not something too bleh
Linus: Must be for those with the Athlon Xp.
Me: Hides the 2006 Athlon powered Gateway desktop.
Truenas is not built for these speed? Which OS is better for 100gb file tranfer?
I do not understand how you can keep touching the contacts on all of your cards and Memory, when are you going to realize the oil and salt off of your fingers/hands will cause corrosion?? Bad example for all the young builders watching your video's.
i am using my windows server 0 problems 🙂
I can see your screwdriver. it doesnt seem like it took 3 years
That's a BSD not Linux 🤦
Whatever happened to the petabyte project
The server room has gone through so many changes I feel like someone needs to make a timeline to help understand what happened to everything
now all you have to do is build a KDENLIVE build with the premiere UX so you can really push faster
ARCH LINUX, latest updates. harder to set up. better
it takes a man of integrity to admit his mistakes and change course. hats of , Linus. We Dutch have a saying : Beter ten halve gekeerd dan ten hele gedwaald".
linüx ist bible biä$€D xD
mäccös miss jäh..? ör 7 at lisett -:-

I'm making avatars for VRchat at the same time as this, my computer froze for three seconds right as it said. "Several bl-".
Non ECC-modules??
The click bait is strong on this one lol
is he even ccna certified?
always interesting to see your tests!! However ZFS is not the fastest filesystem on the market. It's more designed to be a robust filesystem with many possibilities.
When it comes to corporate servers linux is king. Windows server for all it's positives simply cannot beat or match Linux in reliability, flexibility, customizability and to a point.. (strange to say this).. Simplicity. BSD is even more rock solid.
Next change: Switch to BSD
That was the fastest Linus catch something ever
Love the videos. Jake Tech Tips on this one though. I have a plex server set up on a dock- eventually would like to get a nas set up- but I don't really have Media or work with Media like these guys do. How many editors are there- and how many videos aren't released that are coming! Looks like a lootttttt of Media coming our way. Great Video. Glad to see more folks getting away from the World of Windows. OpenSource is the way.
