  5. Tesla was out there almost alone in the E V market. They are going to face a ton of competition, let's see how Tesla holds up with all this competition coming its way. I'm personally impressed by the Chevy Silverado and all it has to offer.

  10. Sorry but the cybertruck looks like a failed 7th grade metal shop project. Aside from that, in 2/21 I bought a new Mazda CX-5 for 32k. The 18k difference between that and a 50k electric car buys a lot gas. Especially since I work from home and fill up about every month and a half.

  11. Honestly we should be pushing tax credits towards hybrids and plug in hybrids. When it comes down the road to replacing the batteries it won't cost $20-30K for batteries instead it would be 3-5K from a dealer from what I've seen for old prius / Toyota hybrid replacements. Chrisfix even has a video for diy people to replace their bad hybrid battery using a third party one that's half dealer price.

    If I make 110k M.A.G.I. per year when I take delivery of the car in February 2023, but I make 220k M.A.G.I. when I file my tax return in 2024, will I still qualify for the EV tax credit for that 2024 tax return?

  17. Most of these cars are not readily available. Some others are crap with poor battery choice.

  18. c/net used to be my go-to for all things computing back in the 1990's. I'm glad I've found them again for all things EV. But now with many affordable EV choices coming to market, I fear our poor power grid won't be able to stand the load. In California, we're already getting Flex Alerts on hot summer days. What's going to happen if we all plug our EV's in at the same time? Also due to the drought, we may be losing our ability to produce hydro power. I've heard that just a loss of 10 more feet in the level of Lake Mead will force the Hoover Dam off line.

  23. Good luck getting an F150 Lightening under $80K with all these markups dealors are doing to it. A 40K Cybertruck won't see the light of day like a 30K Equinox. Speaking of the Equinox that was left off the list and will contain the new ultium battery. It's going to interesting to see what that's priced at.

  26. With Tesla, FSD is an option that can be purchased later as a software download so it wouldnā€™t affect the selling price in terms of the tax credit.

    Thats what it takes to make the Lithium batteries is these EVs.

    What about recycling the batteries i hear you say.

    The process of recycling the batteries is inefficient and would produce more carbon emissions than making a new battery.
    That should halt the EV market in its tracks.

  40. And dealer markup is eating 30-100% of the rebate. The subsidy is going directly to the dealer and not the consumer.

  42. This is really helpful thanks! I will say, I don't think it's fair to say the Cybertruck is so far off and not say the same about the Silverado. Yeah the Cybertruck was delayed but they're both in the testing phase as of now. Some Silverado trims won't be available until 2024

    For the cost, the EVā€™s should be V2G or V2H. Getting something back for the investment, utility credit, or using to run your home, low electric bills, would help with such expensive transportation.
