Best configuration for asynchronous dual channel? is it 2 of the same gb in the first 2 recommended mobo slots and the mixed with same speeds in the last 2?
I bought DDR4-4000 once. Then spent almost a year with them at 1500MHz because that's the only thing they would be semi stable at. Why you should never buy the "fastest" of anything.

Back when ddr3 was just comming out, it was quite expensive and I was on a budget so I got ddr2. My motherboard, however, had 2 slots of ddr2 and 2 slots of ddr3. Sometime later I needed more memory so I got 2 sticks of ddr twice the capacity that I had. It actually worked with both, it didn't have the full combined capacity and I don't remember what speed it ran at but it was very stable.
2 different dies on 2 sets of 2x8gb corsair lpx. Spent 2 months getting it stable at 3867mhz to find out I wasn't actually stable. Tried 2 sticks got micron Rev E 4200 mhz boots not willing to push the voltage to get the infinity fabric stable on 5600x. Settled for 3800 c15 on that pair. Other two won't clock much past 3200. micron Rev A. So I got some hynix CJR and called it quits. 16 21 21 21 36 58 @ 3800mhz probably can get the secondaries tighter but tertiaries are all tight asf 61ns on aida and stable so idc as much

My pc came with ripjaws 2x4gb 2400mhz of ram and I just bought Corsair vengeance 2x16gb 3600mhz of ram. I’m still very new to all of this so how would I go about seeing if these would be compatible. Both are ddr4 but the memory and mhz are different. Any tips ?
by the time your PC is old enough to properly need an upgrade, the added memory total capacity will usually be net benefit, even if you are sacrificing frequency/ latency to make the modules play nice. Realistically.

Well I didn't really do memory mixing it was more like I bought a memory kit (64GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3600 F4-3600C16Q-64GTZRC) which exceeded my M/B's (MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon) max rated memory speed as on the compatibility page for my M/B MSI listed that SKU as supported at full 3600 MHz.
But I got quite some BSOD's and Windows repair needed to repair my system. Now they're going back to the vendor and I personally would by a 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3200 CL16 Quad Kit and try to OC it to 3466.
Or does anyone of you have a tip for some RGB memory modules to max out my M/B's capabilities? (I try rn to get the most out of it; a 5800X3D will also go into there, currently 2700X)
Is it ok to mix ram with different cas latency?
I run 24gigs. 2 crucial veangence 8gb. And 1 of a brand I forget. Overclocked. And I’ve tested without the random 8gig and with and I lose a small bit removing the random stick. That random stick gives me like 10 extra fps lol yes! I need that extra 10 fps!

my system sucks at this config, Maximum supported ram is ECC, DDR3, 1333 mhz, but i have a random mix of 1600 and 1866 ram – none of them is officially supported by my CPU's. The memory is son initializing in triple channel. To make things worse, i use 2 CPU's and total of 12 modules on RAM – The issue multiplies a lot. However Intel Xeon being Intel Xeon, it takes the ram and works with it. It is slower, not as snappier, as it should be, but it works and it is workable. Combo Sucks and makes few issues. I purcahsed 12 matching modules, ECC, DDR3, 1333, from the same manufacturer – Samsung. Once they arrive, i will replace the suck mix with proper RAM.
Im building a new pc and want to use my old ram (Corsair DDR4 3000MHz 15-17-17-35) with my new ram (Corsair DDR4 3600MHz 16-19-19-36) to use all 4 slots on my new motherboard, can anyone tell me if they would work/work well together?

My rig right now is a Ryzen 5 3600 – RTX 3070 – 16gb (2x8gb) 3200mhz CL16 (Adata Spectrix D41)
I bought some Gskill TridentZ 32gb (2x16gb) 3600mhz CL18
My problem is: (amd compatibility problems aside) do I just replace the 16gb kit for the 32gb to get 32gb at 3600mhz, or do I add the 32gb to the 16gb to get 48gb 3200mhz?
My main use for the build is gaming (which might benefit from faster clock speeds) and music production (the bigger the ram size, the better)
I also occasionally code and develop on UE5, and sometimes I'll run a heavily modded Minecraft server to play with a couple of friends
I have 8gb ram 2133mhz and 4gb ram 2666mhz , so it's 12gb ram, and Ram speed in Task manager is 2667mhz in windows 10 enterprise Ltsc 2019, but if I install windows 10 or 11 pro , I have 12gb ram BUT with lower speed 2133mhz. So I think it depends by system itself . I don't have any problem with Days gone, Cyberpunk 2077, and Death stranding. Fps is about 45, with gtx 1050 2gb with I3 10100f and h510m-k .

You bought which ever RAM was on sale at Microcenter or Frys…..most of the time it worked. Unless you were Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, you wouldn't have noticed the difference.

I did this back when DDR3 was a few years old, I wanted to upgrade and bought some random DDR3 stick. It worked fine but when I wanted to get more RAM later on and did the same thing I had to fiddle around in the bios (and I was in high school if I remember correctly) which was a lot of pressure, thinking I could just screw everything up. Anyhow, I got it working in the slowest speed RAM's clock speed and it all worked out fine, but still, I was a lot more careful after that…
