  2. The Waffle House Has Found Its New Host

  3. as a 14 year old that has been using chromebooks the school gives me for three years the first year i used a samsung one and now we have the cheap plastic dell ones i can comfirm that the samsungs ones are so much better in ever way that is durability compatibility and just all around great schools stop getting the other ones stuck with samsung and also we would so much rather have windows that chrome os 👎

  4. Upgrade your son to the Framework Chromebook! 🙂

  5. Ok so Chromebook’s are shit, that’s my takeaway from this video.

  6. "can use a game streaming service, like Google Stadia" 😬

  7. I worked for a learning management software company, a HUGE portion of the issues we received were from chromebook users. It was very difficult to tell people they essentially "bought the wrong laptop".

  8. No update support past a certain number of years? It's not a smartphone… Windows will update forever as long as they are updating that OS, and even when support for that OS ends, you could still upgrade to the new OS (at least until Win 11 required specific hardware/bios upgrades needed for security reasons). I can run Windows 10 on a 10+ year old system and install updates. It might not run well, but it's possible.

More reason to not get a Chromebook.

  9. Chrome books really became a big thing in 8th grade. They distributed them to every student. It was pretty obnoxious because they were really slow and we couldn’t even open them up for cleaning sake. The big problem was that if a teacher didn’t inform us that we are doing something on the chromebook, it would take like 10 minutes to start anything. And we weren’t allowed to use our actual laptops either so we didn’t even have a choice.

It was the worst when covid started. My school shut down and naturally they expected us to do online work, but we would actively get punished for using our actual PC’s because the chrome books are worthless if you have any other PC.

  10. You don't buy a Chromebook to game.

  11. My college age son has an Acer Chromebook 11, and he's still using it after 7 years.

  12. Framework makes a chromebook

  13. Still running chrome 91 on our school chromebooks

  14. you have to buy a laptop so your child can participate in school? my school just gives us one to use

  15. funny thing is, im watching this on a chromebook

  16. got one for school big mistake I hate it so much.

and I’m already saving up so I can get a better computer

  17. Our school has the most garbage Chromebooks. They're made entirely out of plastic, and the computing power is so bad that sometimes it takes like 5 whole seconds to load a Google search. Also, it's super quiet, and you might think that's a good thing. However, when you are getting a lot lag, you might wonder why you hear no noise at all. IT'S BECAUSE THESE ONES HAVE NO FANS. They probably have to limit the power of the CPU so the cheap bendy plastic doesn't melt.

  18. Yo, I had a chance to play with a Framework Laptop. Holy crap! No wonder Linus is invested, it's gotta be the best idea since the ssd. A fully upgradable laptop. The drawback seems to be that you have to wait a little while for parts to become available, but it seems like a seriously solid idea if you wanna game on the go

my pc isnt the best, mid 2010 desktop with 8 gb of ram (they said it would be 10)
and even this thing doesnt run at 100% cpu from fucking youtube with other shit open ontop of that

  19. Not a problem for my school, they already have chromebooks

honestly I would upgrade an old laptop with 8Gbs of ram and a SSD and install chromebook on it

  20. im watching this on a Chromebook.

  21. I had to get a think pad chromebook in 2015 and I absolutely hated the damn thing it was as heavy as my 17.5 inch laptop.

  22. Can you adopt me Linus? I'm only 46 and somewhat obese but on a diet.. I need education too..

  23. This Chromebook is still more powerful than my 2010 4GB RAM laptop, which runs fast enough only on Linux.

  24. My condolences

  25. my school chose and payed for my chromebook

  26. Kinda suprised he didnt just buy his son a full-on gaming computer

  27. So, I guess that I'm lucky since all schools in my country use thinkbooks

yea when i got my chromebook it stopped working out of nowhere after just using it for a month and a half

  28. Few years back bought a Chromebook at a garage sale he just kept coming down on the price without me asking it was like please take this thing I never want to see it again. There were no issues with it but I immediately hated it thinking why do people use these its like a side step from an Apple notebook.. I just bought it to flip on eBay got maybe $100 for it paid $20.

Then they were making us use them at work and I really voiced my opinion on it. Now I work from home and use my custom built Windows desktop. (so thankful)

dont like schools give out chromebooks

    press it
    👇

  29. To be honest it's f**** ass for gaming on Roblox because it's so God damn laggy and it always crashes

So don't ever get a Chromebook if you're going to play with it on Roblox

  30. I actually reached the same conclusion like Linus after a ton of research and bought a Flex 5 for my MIL when they came out in the US. One of the screws that hold the chassis together broke after 2 years though and repairing it would've cost more than the laptop itself used. Thankfully I got it for free, because the seller was dodgy when I had a technical issue and ebay gave me the money back lol.

  31. I like how you give your honest opinion and thoughts on a product and you don't just say oh yes the best thing ever is because they're giving you a paycheck you are a respectful trustworthy and dignified Chrome OS might not be absolute perfection but at least it's better than Windows 10 or windows 8

  32. why don't you buy a regular windows laptop

  33. Bro boutta turn into Linux Tech Tips 💀

  34. "Is this video running at 720p with the CPU at 100%?"

Yes Linus it is. I feel your pain, my school uses the most dog crap Chromebooks known to man. But, the only win that mine have is that I tested streaming video at 4k and it worked surprisingly well

  35. shit

  36. my pc is crusty chrome book level of bad

  37. what about buy a cheap laptop or an old laptop install a 3th party chromeOS

  38. We had to buy graphing calculators in school that were just as expensive as chromebooks. It's awesome that now they can use these instead

  39. pov: ur using a hp chromebook to watch this (definitely not me)
