My rack-mounted gaming computers are putting out major HEAT into my mechanical room and I only have one way to cool this mess: water cooling the whole room using a PT Cruiser radiator in my backyard. It’s not as stupid as it sounds!

Amazing Products TV Ring Video Doorbell (2nd-gen) review: An affordable and solid upgrade

Comments

  1. Alex is the king of knowing a ton about technical stuff but having 0 fear of coming up with the most jank duct-taped together solution for any problem that should usually require expensive specialized equipment.

  2. Linus please god take all of those pc fans off of the radiator and just attach a regular house box fan.

  3. If you added a cumming tower an evaporative cooling effect will take that normal "room temp" summer water and cool it thigh too use. You might need a cooling tower and radiator.

  4. Alex is a low budget Chris Pratt

  5. You could also be a weirdo in 3-D print a holding rack for those

  6. It’s called a chiller system

  7. they need to build a micro center where i live

  8. Oh it's a swamp cooler

  9. If you dont want to create a dedicated 'server room', one good way to deal with excessive heat build up it to watercool your rig, but instead of putting the radiator in the pc like normal, run some 12mm pipe (and a power line) through a hole in the wall to outside, put a rad and fan on the outside wall, weatherproof it, then run another 12mm line from the rad back to your pc. That way you are eliminating the excess heat from the pc rather than dumping it in your room (which is what causes heat build up in rooms with computers)

  10. As an engineer I love that this project was 3 days work and $700; Easily could have been solved by a $10 box fan in the open window.

  11. outside I would have gone for a stainless steel tube harp or a conventional passive heating radiator with a roof to keep things simple. Pity you didn't go for doing it right the first time…

  12. I've had all sorts of ideas of doing things with various types of car radiators and intercoolers from junkyards, this just solidifies it as something that's viable.

  13. 31c that's cute. Come to Australia and sit in 40+ rooms

  14. You must admit that without Luke, the Jedi, a whole room water cool doesn't look as the same.

  15. btw, if either side of the fitting is brass you don't need teflon tape even for pneumatic things. it's a soft enough metal that it seals by itself

  16. Why haven’t computer people figured out squirrel cage blowers and inline fans. They move more air and deal with back pressure much better.

just a heads up sharkbites are the worst connection possible for copper plumbing you would be way better using a chem press and their connections which is alot more secure.

  17. Put a mini-split in that room.

  18. why dont you use pex tubing?

  19. Have done somthing like that. Did conect a heat exthenger on the vater heat system in the house and have the mining rigs heat the house.

  20. My inner australian is giggling at your freaking out at 31c 😛

  21. The servers should be connected in series (rather than parallel) with the pool radiator, just before them. This will simplify the systems.

  22. Maybe in summer you could just put the cooling side in a chest freezer 😂

  23. Guys please do a playlist with all of HOUSE videos. Its funny to watch it 😀

  24. Why not just add a split system like a normal human lol

Quick-Fix: Drip pan under the copper pipes located above the racks.

  25. Just need to figure out how to distribute the heat to the house in the winter

  26. FYI, sharkbite adapters are known to leak….best of luck

  27. I think you need to double down on the jank – find a way to have the pool loops remove waste heat from the condenser of a heat pump. Solves the "pool is too warm for air cooling" issue.

  28. Watched this baked af and wow what an EPISODE felt like a solid movie too.. thank you guys

  29. +1 for the segue!

  30. Just use a heat pump buffer storage tank. It'll use the heat of the room to heat up water for domestic usage. You've already got you water buffer storage tanks in the room. You'll need warm water at any time of the year..^^

  31. You guys are trying to recreate the wheel. They have these inventions called heat pumps all packaged up in a system called a mini split. Way more efficient to move heat with refrigerant than water.

  32. overtemp? 31c? Lol its 37c tomorrow here in brisbane australia 🙂

  33. What u going tk use that 45 drive server for?

  34. where's jake

  35. 4:11 i swear this exact scene happened on almost every janky cooling video alex ever did

  36. "31 degrees is not that hot". me sitting in 8 degrees celsius.

  37. What now? Looking forward for some plumbers and HVAC YT channels, starts assembling servers… LOL

  38. Linus just staring at the camera until Alex says "I spent like 300 dollars-"

  39. Stand alone AC for that room, well at least the parts he needs

  40. "The proper fan for that is like 200 bucks!" spends 300 bucks on a few fittings

  41. Linus you are crying for 31 degree heat, but in India its 40+ for most of the times.

  42. Always buy radiators for manual transmission cars for projects like this. Same size in most cases but they don’t have the trans cooler loop.

  43. 31.3 degrees isnt hot
