I know this is an old video, but first of all let me tell ya ! Nahh I’m just kidding, I just want to be informative. Those studio monitors are not quite for mixing, but actually to reference your mixes or masters, that’s why they are quite harsh on the mid frequiencies, so if you listen to your coloured consumer grade speakers, it will sound right. Those studio monitors are way too hefty for that room. Some of the lower frequiencies that it produces, if it produces them, they are way too long waves for that small room to not reflect a million times into your ear canal, from the wall, creating a phase effect where kris is sitting. On a decent volume, if you calibrated it and gain set by some pink noise, you will still need some sub to enjoy low frequencies with them. Those HS series monitors are a special version for wall mount or stand mount, that’s why nuts are built in at the sides of the speaker and on the bottom. Those guys are Nierfield monitors so they should face towards you, and should form an equal triangle that includes you. The tweeters should be at your ear level, otherwise they will sound crappy. Because of the small room you can use sound diffractors behind Kris, so it crashes those waves to pieces 😀 not really, but also creating millions of other waves that you have to absorb then with all kinds of absorption panels and low frequencies with the so called “bass traps” which actually not always makes any difference, but yeah. If you want consumer grade, but great sounding hi-fi active speakers they are still available in white. Kanto YU series speakers for that matter sound pretty good with their provided white sub, they are available both in matte and glossy white. But there are numerous well known brands out there.
