Just stop using WinDoze more just need too wake up to using linux for gaming and daily use i have swapped and love how slick it is today!
I did this settings to my windows, and now my Cortana talks spanol and she calls herself Juan…. and always wants me to bring her to the Gringo… whoever that is…
Microsoft really should release a spererate more focused and optimised bloat free windows build that is targeted to gamers/power users. I do enjoy tweaking and messing around with windows and battling cortana, one drive, edge from auto installing and using all the resorces known to man but man can it be a pain remembering everything when you do a fresh install for whatever reason… like if Riot games kernal level anti cheat BSODs your entire system because you upgraded your motherboard bios and cpu.
[Win][Space] is the default keyboard shortcut for changing the keyboard layout/language in Windows
Wait what? So Windows is finally useful as a professional tool and nobody told me until now?
Will this work with windows 10??
What's the oh-my-posh used in the video?

SHUTDOWN commands, in 2023, are still the most important commands in IT.
"Just like you would on Linux"
"Just like on Linux"
Maybe, just maybe, the Linux UI guys are on to something?
Me watching the video on ubuntu: Windows Users ☕
Whoever thought WSL was a gimmick? Like ever? Professionals including myself have been using WSL to basically have Windows as our main development machine. It's seamless.
In summary, windows is now more like Linux and therefore doesn't suck.
This is actually pretty awesome. I would be freaking out at the awesomeness, if I hadn't already given MS the ultimate middle finger of switching to native Linux installs on any computer I intended to use for serious productivity purposes long ago. (That said, there was a time, long ago, when I possessed the skill of hex editing progman.exe in Windows 3.1 to change certain aspects of how Windows functioned. I am no longer a Windows wizard, but I think Linux wizard skills are providing me far more value at this point.)
This just reminds me of when my school made the mistake of putting everyone's IP in the top right corner of their screen and students would just shutdown their teacher's computers mid presentation with the shutdown command. Also making shortcuts with game icons but just having them lead to a shutdown command with a prompt that told you there were viruses or something of the like and then "installing" games on other student's computers.
Windows is the Best if you are willing to go thru of all that work tweaking it better, my win 10 was using 2,4gb ram from the Box with128 process running , after 2-3 hours of tweaking it was ready for gaming with 0,9gb ram used and 38 process running when starting . They should do that from factory….
I miss power user focused videos like this, glad to see one again for the first time in ages.
Every start of the year i swap my main laptops drive and install fedora. Compare to windows. Always come back and every year since wsl is released power toys and wsl2 get better and better same as general windows performance. I still mostly work "on" linux but not as a desktop.
Windows 10 was nice, widows 11 – how about to get rid of features everyone uses? Yep!
The Group Policy commands are
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%servicingPackagesMicrosoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~*.mum") DO (DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F")
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%servicingPackagesMicrosoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientExtensions-Package~*.mum") DO (DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F")
Quake mode, super useful video! Love this
Ah, the sheer amount of use I've gotten out of shutdown /r /t 3 back in the day (back when the used the forward-slash "switches" instead of linux-like options). 3 of course for those cases where I realized I'd given the command prematurely and might need to cancel it.
my laptop buffer exactly when linus say pause it. and i thought it was part of the video
Information I will never use. —Arch Linux User
Remember windows 8… mom bought new computer and after a week had me format the drive and install windows 7. 🤣🤣🤣
Cool, now microsoft just need to fix the update from 2months ago that is making my windows 10 randomly freezing, crashing my games and slowing my pc because why not
My work pc had it's Windows Store blocked. However there are windows component or apps (like Phone Link and Sticky Notes) that's updated using the store. How do i perform these updates?
Is there a Linux version of this video yet? Anthony? Pls? I get that it would be slightly different due to the variety of distros, but might be worth looking into. I went on a deepdive myself a few months ago after a job interview and installed Pop! and just googled my heart out for Gnome extensions and small useful Linux software by the dozens off lists and Github etc. for all the niche needs I had, just to see if it could be resolved.
Was super impressed by what I could do and how Pop didn't just fall apart like my previous installations years ago. Plus it ran on an i5-2500k at the time and was super spiffy.
I would love a series of tips like this expanded for windows and Linux
0:08 The what button? Start button? What is that? Now when doing tech support over the phone, you have to describe the shape, position and color of the main menu button in Windows. In Windows 11 we also have to describe the copy and paste options in the right click menu.
I can't help but feel like if someone is willing to get this technical with windows to do more linux-like things they might as well just use linux and cut out the middle man. At this point unless you're using your desktop for a job that requires specific software, there's no reason to deal with the headaches microsoft inflicts upon their users.
"The shutdown menu" -Imagine being able to reboot Windows with just a couple keystrokes…………
Linus looks baked.
