  1. As it is getting into a truck stop at the end of the day is nearly impossible. Local transportation and even yard jockey jobs, it will be perfect. Lots of smart people are working on all this but there are a lot of small stupid stuff that they are not factoring in for long haul.

No real truck driver is going to buy there. As for a reality check the only way is possible is forced by government which is already happening in California. Which already supplies chain problem. Don’t blame us if your gallon of milk starts costing $100-200 a gallon. And that’s just one thing. That will be a real realty check

  2. Were these stats tested with the normal weight an 18-wheeler has to haul? Does this mileage also apply during the cold?

  3. this is laughable assessment, the truck has few applications with high overhead cost; needs a 1200 mile or more range to be ideal, especially base on the availability of truck parking, charging station est.

  4. nice

  5. I heard that one 6 ft diameter windmill can charge one of these trucks in 20 minutes !

  6. with worst brakes that are sold

  7. It hauls much less than gas powered so it is conveniently left out. The 6% video was hauling a third of the weight of the other truck. 0 to 60 means nothing, all that matters is weight

  8. 500 miles is nothing for a semi tractor trailer. It's barely even good for a car.
A semi has to go 2,000 miles.

  9. I don’t think you have run the numbers on these things yet, I don’t think they are going to be any good at all, just musk BS

  10. Glad Im retiring soon. I would never drive such a clown car!

  11. Ask most truck drivers n they will tell u that they rather have the old classic look yes your so calked barn wall look to this horrible nasty bullet look my friend. Sadly as always the problem is that the rich wealthy ppl r just not in-touch with your everyday person anymore.

  12. Interesting to see lot of Americans hating American technology and American car company. How long do we want to be relying on fossil fuels which we are the at mercy of not so good countries. I am sure there are many that said who is going to use a phone without physical keyboard when apple iPhone came out and I don’t see anyone using a phone with physical keyboard. I am sure lot people wanted to ride horse carriages when ford started rolling out cars. Sooner or later we all have to catchup with the change or we will get behind.

  13. PepsiCo spills the beans on tesla being disingenuous about the actual range of hits tesla semi. They say the range for hauling chips, which is essentially AIR is ~ 500 miles… But hauling pop, a more realistic cargo the range is closer to 100 miles… Which is kind of pathetic for a semi tractor trailer truck 🙄

  14. “Tesla is going to be building a network of mega chargers”.

That’s false. Tesla has given zero indication of any “network” of semi chargers. They said they’re selling chargers to “fleet” “partners” as needed. That’s it. The charger has MW hookups w three mega packs installed, the 3 MWh utility grade battery which is $1.5 million each. Nobody is going be installing random public networks of $4.5 million semi chargers, plus a hefty utility hookup, w room to park multiple semi trailers, anywhere, ever.

  15. “… hovering out over the nose ….”

That’s called cab-over. US Semis don’t do cab-over due to the threat of moose elk etc strikes up to the windshield. Somehow Tesla Semi thinks it’s immune.

  16. “I’m excited about it”, says the online, would be objective journalist. Tesla has rolled out some hard won innovations, and also talked a lot of BS, with Boring Machine, Battery Swap, Starship in orbit two years ago, and Semi proposed in 2017. So, a skeptical journalist that interviews some experts, some of the semi competitors (four at least), might get us some objective analysis. No, we get excitement. Make no mistake, Theranos and FTX and Nikola would be no more than pick pockets on the train with media like this to make them happen.

  17. Until they add a sleeper, and do battery exchanges instead of charging. It will only be good for regional and local deliveries

  18. How much of the 82k lb max load are the batteries?

  19. The problem is all the voltage needed to charge these and then the fact the grid can’t handle regular passenger car Teslas lol

  20. 😂 Ur being gas lighted.. 500 miles filled with bags of PepsiCo potato chip.. i.e. air.. the back of the truck’s trailer is still a big flat surface, so TONNES of turbulence and drag there, just like every other truck.. AND Musk said the truck would be out in 2019.. it’s now essentially 2023.. you said it will actually be out in 2024.. guy’s word is 100% proven to be exaggerated and unreliable.. c’mon now! 🙄

  21. Im surprised tesla didnt put solar panels on the trailer to help charge battery's while not being used. Or charge while driving to give longer range.

  22. How about the sleeper…still have yet to see anything

  23. Wait, you are excited about a vehicle that will travel FAR less then a regular Semi and carry FAR less payload??? Ooh but it's "Electric"….uuuh what do you think "fuels" your recharging station, that you will have to use ALOT making the Power Stations burn more…..wait for it, wait for it, wait for it…….Fossil Fuels!!!!! BRILLIANT LOGIC

  24. And for all of you gear jamming Dinosaurs, there's no manual Shifter ☹️

  25. Goes for 8 hours lol….then charge for how long?

  26. range in Canadas cold is 20 miles lol

  27. I get a lot of concerns there doesn't seem to be a infrastructure in place yet for this. But it is coming and this is a forward thinking product. I think Right now it would be fine in local routes and in state stuff. You still need to hail stuff from one location to the other and it's not necessarily on the other side of the country. You can tell people don't like change because this is an odd thing to get upset about. We know Evs work and are a practical everyday vehicle.

  28. Cannot wait to see it on the road!

  29. He langhelg the hole way to bank and off peopel…….see what happen in natur Brasil….Just one eksampel…..biggest mistake in world ?..???

  30. 20% less payload,,,,, not a viable option,if your in business to make money. Who gives a crap about silly gimmicky features.

  31. Finally? Freightliner's eCascadia has been on the market for a few years now.

  32. I hope that any 1 that drive get payed by hr

  33. Just one (probably dumb) idea about EV trucks:
500 miles of range for an EV truck might not seem enough for many truck operators, but what's the current impeding technicalities about making trailers with easily swapable battery packs to add further range when needed?
Those trailer batteries would ideally be placed in battery swap stations around nearby existing truck park/resting areas, and they'd be paid for by battery capacity and renting time needed of said batteries.

Prepare for the end of trucking. I can't wait to hear their excuses for why it doesn't work as advertised. The only people that believe this is a good idea are people that have never driven a truck. Go tell the drivers that they can only do 500 miles in a day when they are otr.
And say goodbye to your off duty time. You'll be waiting in line to charge this thing. At a rate of 1 hour per truck to fully charge, pray you don't have to wait in line. Good luck finding parking after all the diesel trucks parked while you are waiting to charge.
But keep believing that this is a good idea.

  34. The Tesla Semi has a drag coefficient of just 0.36. This helps reduce wind noise and improve efficiency. A traditional diesel semi truck has a drag coefficient range between 0.65 and 0.7. What I don't under stand if Tesla can design a truck with that drag coefficient that would increase mpg by 25%-75% diesel semi truck that's an extra 125-375 miles. What I like is Tesla engineer pushing max engineer innovation design. Big Thumbs Up. That's what made America Great True Wealth is Productions Not Big Communist Socialism Liberal Censor Government.

  35. I think cargo weight is important for truckers. Looks like it’s carrying 5 tons when passing the regular semi. Tricky tricky Tesla.

  36. The tesla truck should be for local only in my opinion

  37. First of all… all of this is based on Elon said this and Elon said that. All of this is BS. It wont have 500 mile range. It will go past a diesel truck on an incline, but it will use half of its charge and overheat. It will charge in 30 min if its not too hot, or too cold and then again that will be half of the charge even if it does… So, keep working on it. Call me in 30-40 years when the are actually working in the real world.

  38. the tech isnt even close to ready, loaded electric semi in the cold will not make it to the next charging station

  39. Is anyone going to mention the Cargo weight capacity?

Is that 500 miles on a freezing snowy night – wipers going, headlights on, heaters and defrosters at full, etc.? Also, like many people I know – I prefer physical knobs than touchscreen controls. but it does save on deisel…. wonder what it costs to replace the batteries and how often you would have to do it.

  40. tesla cars are SO UGLY in general………I can buy way better looking cars for the same or less amount of money

  41. The people who own those trucks are in some trouble once the battery needs to be replaced. It's going to cost more than the whole track

  42. no def might no fuel might be good for truckers theres good chance less with this will go wrong

  43. this is terrible trucking companys wont like that every 500 miles max good luck going somehwhere out the way u be bumed good for local

  44. They should have made the trailer aerodynamic too like the Marks @ Spencer trucks. Not just the truck cab.

  45. Let's see it pull 3 or 4 trailers a couple of thousand kilometres across Australia's outback to remote communities and farms.
