It’s been months since we acquired the new building for our testing lab and it’s still in absolute disarray. Today we try to fix some of that by getting the core of the building’s networking installed.

i genuinely enjoy these videos from LTT
The floor, It's nature's bucket!
These are the best kind of videos
Ubiquti and Enterprise does not fit in the same sentence.
Ubiquiti is garbage hardware. The software and experience is great. But we have done quite a few and every one of them has died. Many fights to get them warrantied because if you buy from an authorized distributor ubiquiti Denys the warranty. The distribution needs to eat the cost to replace. Not to mention it’s only half warranty
Linus, you're are a master… Now can you get Canadian trains back on their tracks? 😃
"We'll do that, but less bad this time."
"Asbestos!"
"Nooo-"
Perfectly cut, well done editor team haha
Um isn't there a tool for cage nuts? I've never hurt my fingers.
I cant tell if linus is the best boss ever or the worst boss ever XD
that ar feature is awesome
"If it doesn't fit, we hit it." I like the cut of this man's jib.
22:15 (Dan's final three syllables) "ASBESTOS" LOLOLOLOL
2:50 … "why hammers?" … surprised Linus hasn't heard of "percussive maintenance" … "hey Luke, can you teach Linus?"
This video made me cry. You're going to crush the cables that are connected to the copper SFPs when you close the door. You always have to move the vertical rails back at least 5cm on the port side of the switches. The bend radius on copper Ethernet cables is usually about 4x cable diameter – so for your ultra thin CAT6A (typically around 4mm diameter) you shouldn't have any bends tighter than 16mm (bit over 1/2 an inch). Smooshing the door on them like that will cause issues – possibly immediately but certainly over time.
Just realised it's the 100G to 4x 25G breakout cable that's being pinched. That will have a minimum bend radius too.
This equally applies to fiber. If you bend the fiber too tight several things happen. Light starts to leak out from the core/cladding interface instead of being internally reflected and you end up with significant signal loss.
Otherwise – love the channel. Very entertaining 🙂
Where’s your firewall?
Networking guy here. Now I understand the cringe that electricians feel when they see DIY'ers doing electrical.
That switch might have 48 POE ports but watch how many watts your cameras and WAPs use. Most POE switches start causing craziness above 24 devices.
Buy cable in bulk and make cables to the perfect length? Not so messy and much cheaper. It also makes pulling the cable much easier.
Hinged patch panels or ones that can pop out the front can be a life saver when you need to change that one cable that is between two switches.
Label maker… DYMO makes some just for cable management. It also works well to have a system. This is patch panel A with 1-48. Back at the workspace you label the cover plate A-1 A-2. You know those two cables are on patch panel A on 1 and 2.
Wow vande Bharat train
Cage nut tools aren't bad but once you finally find one that works nicely… I wound up losing it every 10 seconds. Those studs look nice for little stuff like the switches and patch panels, but proper rapid rails on squarehole racks is 10/10 the perfect way to rack stuff. I just wish more companies would make square hole compatible nice rails for their stuff instead of having crappy ears.
OMG! Dan was amazing in this vid!!!
