  1. Shit, had I known you were coming to Tucson…

  2. Linus' raspy voice makes my previous comparison to Red Green even more relevant.

  3. Why he's tied to the machine

  4. I liked the blue bracelet with a spring.

  5. No IPL'ing the mainframe?

  6. Boomers : where cassette

  7. Good luck, for Z

  8. Winona Ryder accessed the mainframe. We're just going to have to accept that in Hollywood Fantasy English the word means "big important computer" and not what it really means.

  9. Hardware, schmardware. Let’s see the transaction software.

  10. There is a nasty blurred square when you stand in front of the mainframe. Remove it and reupload the video.

Why can I hear background music it’s kind of annoying

  11. Cableporn optimizeable… 🙃

  12. Take 10 Linus what algorithm package are available

  13. I recognize this server room. My dad works for IBM and worked on the programs for the Z16, and when it was "Take your child to work day" as a kid I went every year. I remember being given ear plugs as we walked through the large servers!

  14. The director of Deloitte's Mainframe and Cloud modernization department in Brussels once showed me how to administer a zOS with Python. Frankly I was surprised. Any UNIX/LINUX admin would be able to do it. The power of the mainframe and the tools of the modern developer. Major strong combination.

  15. All my power strip (pdu’s) have upgradable firmware, along with individual reboot options to each outlet. Glad to see I’m special lol

  16. bros devious

    i could never do this

  17. After watching this video, I think Linus could do a pretty good Scotty Kilmer impression!!

  18. My dell server came with only one power supply… I wish server manufacturers were more like ibm in terms of redundancy

  19. 6:18 "So wait, you guys handed me a working chip?

Well that was your first mistake" 🤣😂

  20. But can it run crisis?

  21. Man if your typical laptop is a canoe, then these mainframes are cruise liners.

    chrome.

  22. I would love to see one of these next to my 1970s IBM system 370 with the magnetic tapes, hard drives and teletypes just to show mainframe evolution over 50 years. I would also like to see a 50 year evolution of computing like my Data General nova 1200 from 1972 to modern pc.
