I have been waiting like everyone else for matter to arrive. Amazon haven’t updated the Echo devices with it yet here in the UK,it is supposed to be next month. Great video Reed, keep up the fab work. 👍🏻👍🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I believe Amazon hasn't enabled the matter over thread option, just matter over WiFi. Btw please make a video of matter on home assistant, i have the sky connect but I don't have any matter devices
It seems like SmartThings is picking up steam once again. You have Matter, local automation support, Edge drivers (the new virtual device drivers are awesome), gen 3 hub Matter/Thread support, and a new hub that supports Matter/Thread and Zigbee (I still think the SmartThings and Aeotec hubs are better).
No Home assistant sky connect??? 😭 Not YET anyways 🙃 Mine is set up and ready to go though!

The fact that you can’t see the Energy Monitoring except in the Eve app makes this device a Don’t Matter!
What about Home Assistant? Would have liked to have heard a little about that, even if it doesn't work there yet.
No Home Assistant?
One thing I noticed is that you were adding devices directly to SmartThings or Google, but not into the device app like Kasa. This was preventing you from adding to another service until you found the multi-admin feature. Does Matter take out the need to put the device in the device maker app, like Kasa first? When I add devices to Kasa, it then automatically adds them to the Google Home and SmartThings app, since they were trusted and I have my login with them.
You should have included adding it to Home Assistant, that would have made your video perfect
I'm french and I am watching all your vidéos for a long time now and there are absolutely amazing to improve my English because of the way your talk and your accent is the best and very easy to understand
it will take a while until matter supports most types of devices and we get rid of the old stuff. For sure simple smart plugs are the best type to replace first.
Can you make a thread EVE plug work in Home Assistant with a Honepod? O that is too much?

We've had multiple big countries coming together to support "world peace" for the common good. But egos and agendas kept getting in the way.
Now we have multiple big corporations coming together to support "Matter" for the common good.
Oh well, we can always keep hoping for world peace.

Does this mean I won't need the Aqara hub to use Aqara sensors?
I use Amazon Alexa, have for years, not sure why I should even care about Matter. I have a multitude of options to choose, great prices, and the Alexa app is so much better than Google Home app or Apple's Home app, which is just god-awful. And, yay, now all Matter devices have a hideous QR Code on them, thanks Apple 🤮

This sounds worse. So with all my TP link plus I can ask my Alexa, Google, or Siri to turn off X plug. If I pair a matter plug with Siri I wont be able to ask Alexa or Google to control X plug?

Miss A and Mr G still use the cloud in the background to register what you bought and how they can send you more advertising, thats why it fails.

I use emporia devices for fuse panel and wifi switches, best bang for buck imo.

Just received my SkyConnect USB stick but I do not have any Matter devices to test with at this time.
Apple is terrible. Getting worse with age.

Didn't zigbee promise pretty much everything that matter does? Didn't that standard fall apart because corporates implemented it there way? I dont get why so many youtubers think it's some kind of magic bullet, it's just yet another standard that companies will abuse until it's as broken as all the others

I think we are still years away. HA + zigbee is still going to be the cheap and working alternative for a while
