Can you guys get your hands on altra q80-30? It is an 80 core CPU. I'm curious to see how it matches up with the Treadripper and Xeon. There are basically no videos on YouTube about it.
1:45 TBH Ive been looking for threadrippers but they are waaay beyond my budget (used one for 2.5k usd? really?). My 20-something PCIe lane 5800X is really suffocating me on pcie… My GPU right now runs on 4 last lanes of pcie and I cannot do an upgrade that I want becouse Im out of pcie… Now that xeons you showcased.. Damn Im tempted to jump platform back to intel now..

love it when people that don’t understand an ounce of economics try to be smart and talk about economics. 2 big corporations controlling the market is not competition Linus, it’s a duopoly stop being a fool just look at their profit margins. if intel and amd were equally as good that would still not be competition and this market will never be competitive just because of the insane entry cost while these 2 keep getting subsidies from the state preventing any other company from entering the market.
If you want good pricing start advocating from them to become nationalised/cooperatives with state regulation

the end of HEDT was always an annoyance to me. i bought the 6850k so whilst newer generations of HEDT chips were released, by the time i was starting to look for an upgrade the only real options were the consumer chips with 20 pcie lanes. that said, whilst i use more than 20 lanes, i am really not putting them to a massively important use, so being limited to 20 isnt the end of the world. but i always love having the option to do something. that 12/24 w2400 chip looks intriguing.
Hopefully this competition can encourage amd to compete again with actual purchasable products. Hopefully with more zen 3 style power consumption but we shall see
