I hope Linus finds this comment but highly doubt it. LTT should come up with certifications for noise, build quality, etc. People have more trust in Linus than in manufacturers and it can become a huge thing. At first, you'd have LTT certification on a few small products, then more and more brands will adopt it for good marketing (exactly how MKBHD started handing off phone of the year awards and companies started using it in marketing). After the business grows, this can generate revenue by having companies pay to apply for certification.

See that's where you lose me. I use headphones on every computer to not bother my neighbours, and have zero interest in noise levels of components as a result, because even the worst headphones completely ecclipse even the noisiest consumer-tier fans by literally orders of magnitude. They won't mask the noise of bloweymatrons, but then perhaps trying brain surgery while standing next to an artillery crew running trials, is a little ridiculous. There's a good reason server closets are soundproofed.

Thermal throttling, however, is an AB-SO-LUTE nonstarter. I did not buy an intermittent device, nor pay an intermittent price for it. Intermittent performance is therefore NEVER acceptable. Some neurotic quack claiming he can hear the difference in decibel level of ghost's thoughts and that of a corpse's memories, is NOT the norm. I don't care that a vacuumcleaner is noisy, I care that it works 24/7 for as long as I choose to use it, I care that it can take a 100% duty cycle. It's complete fkn nonsense to bork the performance for something as absurd as whisper quiet not being "fully silent", and should never even have been something the industry took seriously. If you want the silence of a grave, get in a grave. The world makes noise.

In my opinion, some people watch the show because they want to learn about the tech, but I think your audience also cares about the comedy and entertainment that you also bring. It's like a 50/50 balance of entertainment and making cool stuff.

To aid in funding this I wish that sponsors like Microcenter would utilize LTT and how their capabilities for distributing ordered goods to consumers to have them make distributions of their products that they sell easier to people in Canada like myself who'd like to shop on Microcenter but shipping isn't available in my area.

Trust me Linus will sell out when the times comes aswell. Same thing always happens to all these people like anandtech and tom hardware as Linus said. It is hard to turn down $100 million dollars.

I'm both excited and a little scared. On the one hand I trust you and your company to be as ethical as you possibly can. On the other hand I've seen good companies turn worse as they grow. Hoping for the best and congrats on the plan regardless.

Hopefully in the next 4-5 years they still need another CAD engineer. Cus thats wht ima be working on for 2 years then electrical engineering for 4 years…maybe even a masters. Thats the dream though.
