pro z690-a ddr5 for $210 and ripjaws s5 kit of 2×16 6000 for $140. ddr5 doesn't break the bank anymore

Micron cancelled my DDR5 order on Amazon so that I was forced to sell my DDR5 board at a loss and buy a cheap DDR4 motherboard, as Ddr5 was nowhere to be found at that time. I'll never forgive what Micron did to its customers.

always buy the "new" hardware in their mid life span. The technology will be more "matured' and software support will be much better
this applies to pretty much all core PC parts, cpu, gpu, RAM etc.

If I take care of my newly built computer (and if I finally save enough for an RTX 4060 or 4060 Ti), I intend to keep it for at least 10 years. And unless something major happens, my 32 Gb 3200 MHz DDR4 will be more than enough.
For a long time, I purchased price-break components – the ones just before the next higher one doubled. But I'm a developer and I haven't run out of memory or had to leave jobs running overnight since the '80s so after I'd burned out several machines, I started wondering why. When I was broke but managed to run my business on an Asus EEE for a year, I just switched to the most power efficient setup and really haven't looked back.

In 2022 DDR 4 is like 50% more expensive than it was in 2020. For 32GB 3200 UDimm. It's not gold but.. DDR 5 to be performance wise faster needs double clock than DDR 4, e.g. compare 3200 vs DDR-5 6400 because of the latency.
DDR5 can kiss my a . . ah grits! Ya, kiss my grits. I'll use DDR4 for a little longer.

I got DDR5 for my latest build because it was the same price as the equivalent DDR4 on prime day. I really just didnt want to have to swap a motherboard later when DDR5 gets better. Otherwise, DDR5 not worth it.

Can someone explain to me the notches, I just got ddr5 Kingstone Fury beast ddr5 (the non RGB ones) and mine look like it's advertised on the Kingstone site with the notch on the right side if looked at from the front. It says ddr5 on them and it's what the site says too… but everyone everywhere I look says the notch should be on the left for ddr5.

I'm planning on building a powerful Gaming Computer on an AMD system, but it looks like DDR5 is exclusive to Intel, based on my research.
Might just settle for the DDR4, since these results don't look like that much of an improvement.

i dont see the point here since i made 2 build 1 ddr5 and one ddr4 and the difference is 60-70$ so better get a ddr5 instead so you can upgrade later on correct me if i am wrong plz
DDR 5 is useless. I will buy Dual Channel DDR 4 and a AMD ryzen 3600 7nm and with my GT 1030 DDR5 2GB cannot install the CD on Intel core 2 duo E8500(Gaming beast). Elite old gamer who's 2 fingers have touched the hot heatsink of RD RAM.
Good thing i have bunch of DDR1, DDR2 & DDR3 memory sticks laying around
I mean if you get 12th gen and a 12th gen motherboard that's actually higher end you kind of have to buy ddr5 and I'm not skimping on my motherboard just because there isn't much difference lol. Plus any gain I get is welcomed snd being a bit more future proofed won't hurt. Tbh I'll have my cpu and motherboard probably for years to come! Who knows unless they allow upgrades to 13th gen on these motherboards but I'm not betting on it haha.
Still running on SD-RAM and DDR 1 & 2 here … Got some EDO-RAM, too, and DDR 3 for good measure, but not using those newer PCs yet.

Checked gaming benchmarks yesterday between 3200 vs higher speeds DDR4 & the typical difference was only 1 or 2%.
