After a long, looooooong development cycle Intel has finally launched their lineup of Sapphire Rapids Xeon Server CPUs. But AMD already has some incredible chips in their Epyc Genoa lineup, which boast up to 96 cores on the highend. How is Intel supposed to compete when they have fewer cores and are running on last gen’s architecture? Accelerators. They hope.

i forgoted AMD threadriper is still existing

  1. please someone tell me what you need 80 pcie slots for.

  2. Obvious comment bait is obvious.

  3. I don't understand how this man drops things in damn near every video.

  4. Cringe as Linus drops goop in the processor socket. DAFUQ my guy?

  5. Linus can repair my hard drive anytime

  6. Does Pulseway let you manage how much paste goes between the pins?

  7. 😂😂😂 Probably because they come with warranties!!! Which he hates!!

  8. Charging people to unlock features already present on hardware they've already paid for should be completely illegal.

  9. I can't believe you tried to run that with that amount of paste in the socket. This was honestly terrible and you could tell his staff knew what was going on.

  10. now that's a segue

  11. The audio was so muffled in this one!

  12. Zoomed slang is revolting, just like everything else about that absolute failure of a generation.

  13. Yuck. These pulseway ads are so bright my eyes are watering. Don't they have a dark mode?!

  14. megacorporation got called cringe. damn

  15. 5: 40 amd competitor isent that intel?

  16. So cringe. Click bait title, intro trashing Intel, then spend the rest of the video selling it and fawning over how awesome it is. Confused and gonna leave now

  17. That server has as much ram as my broke selfs laptop has STORAGE SPACE… 😔

  18. *Hardware as a service" yikes

that cooler is smaller thanmost regular cooler people use for a 95watt cpu. They dont really seem to strive for low temps.

  19. *User benchmark*: Intel is better because it has 2 cpus instead of 1, since 2>1 intel wins.

  20. Wondering if they managed to make the server to POST again

  21. Ngl, I’m here cause of the cute cpu in the thumbnail

  22. net income is down 114%?????? so….. they are no longer profitable?

  23. I learned the hard way to NEVER do anything with thermal paste (other than applying directly to the cpu) over an open computer.

  24. AMD just stomping intel for years now, hopefully they can eventually do that against greed called nvidia

  25. Not sure how that's a yikes, when they've done the same thing with their Extreme Edition for years?

  26. How smart do you need to be to suss out a torque wrench?

  27. jesus christ the number of times puleway was mentioned is the actual cringe part of this video

  28. I have an AMD FX-8350 which you briefly made fun of. Personally it's great for my needs, I really don't need anything faster.

The games I play are Roblox & Minecraft & it runs that just fine. I was playing teardown for a bit & got a GTX 1080 Ti & I can now play that at about 160 fps.

I also enjoy trying to extend the life of older hardware for as long as possible. I am STILL using my FIRST laptop from 2010 which has a Core i5 in it. I actually just 5 days ago put my old SATA SSD in it (upgraded to NVMe on my FX computer) & its running so much faster!

I use this laptop as a media machine permanently plugged into my TV with HDMI & controlled with bluetooth keyboard & mouse. It's running Linux Mint (for now) & I can log onto Netflix watch stuff there, I can also torrent other stuff which isn't on Netflix. I have game emulators & can play with my Xbox One S controller (I don't even have an xbox one lol, I just got it cause it's an amazing bluetooth controller).

My old laptop is something I already had, it does a whole lot more than a Firestick ever would, & using Linux I know my data is private & isn't being sent to Amazon. I honestly can continue using this laptop for another decade just fine, it plays 4k content perfectly & I'm using it on a 1080p TV anyways!

I also have an older desktop computer which is running 24/7 hosting a pruned Monero node & a Tor node, that way I can give back to the internet & these privacy focused projects. That computer is using a hard drive so maybe it could use an upgrade but meh who cares. Its a old hard drive from 2009, I'll just let the thing run until it fails on my then I'll maybe get a 500GB WD blue.

Oh I remember linus talking about the amount of 9's for server reliability. That computer has a UPS in the event of a power outage (cause I really don't wanna be messing with it), it has been running non-stop for 13 months!!! I was thinking about that when you mention 9's. I set it up with the Monero node last February & that's when I installed docker. Aside from internet & power outages (UPS kept the computer on) it has had ZERO downtime in 13 months. I actually should check it & see about doing updates cause they may be some security issues lol. Though I have it on a separate VLAN so my other devices should be okay & there is nothing sensitive in it. Worst case is its used in a botnet but my home IP wouldn't be exposed anyways cause I use PfSense for my Firewall & its running on a VPN server with port forwarding. Like hell I would ever expose my true IP for a Monero or Tor node lol.

But yes that is how I'm able to take maximum advantage over my old computer hardware & why I don't need to upgrade. Aside from making YouTube videos I don't have an intense need for raw computing power, that's the only intensive thing I do. I get A LOT of enjoyment from being able to use my existing hardware & finding ways to extend its USEFUL life. Let's not talk about the fact I use a Galaxy S7 & love it lol. (Also this isn't out of necessity, I am not poor just incase someone says this is the only reason I'm doing this, I could drop 3k on a killer computer right now, I just really want to continue using what I have cause I like it, I hate when people say I only do this cause I can't afford to upgrade!)

  29. I really wanted to support intel on this one, then I heard of awful business practices like paying to unlock what you already have or hardware subscriptions. Screw intel, I hope any company which does that suffers.

I bet there is probably a way to hack it, people should buy them & hack it
